Can't believe I've lived in Hamilton for 25 years and I'm only coming to Saltlick Smokehouse now. Better late than never, and I will return as soon as humanly possible. Had the "I Feel Like Chicken Tonight" feature BBQ platter... Nashville and Jerk. It was fantastic. Tender, full of flavour with a touch of heat. Check this place out, if you haven't already!

Been here a few times for the regular menu which is amazing. Came in today for their crawfish boil event they had going on and it was an awesome experience the food was amazing portions were great, music was great for the event (lots of southern rock). The manager Andrew is very friendly, super helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you for having us!

Four of us visited Saltlick. One of our party is a very experienced smoker and barbecuer. In a nutshell, this venue has much to offer but also things to work on. Previous reviews have discussed all the individual dishes, so I am going to stick to overall impressions. Where Saltlick excels: mind-blowing baked beans, great pork belly nuggets, wonderful tasty chicken in three styles, and a very decent cole slaw. In addition, it offers some excellent bourbons and a smoked Old Fashioned that is to die for. I suggest that if you order one, you upgrade the bourbon from Three Roses to something like Makers Mark. What Saltlick needs to work on: Two items we ordered Alexander our server advised us were sold out; corn bread and ribs. We arrived at 6:00pm to a 3/4 empty restaurant. I find it hard to believe they were sold out of anything, but okay, I'll live with the absence of corn bread. But a Smokehouse that is serious about its business would NEVER run out of ribs; I mean, really? The one item we disagreed on among our party was the brisket. It should be the centerpiece of any smokehouse. Three of us agreed that it was dry(?) and unidentifiable. Brisket lovers know that brisket is just the opposite of these qualities. We were quite disappointed. Service was great. However, Alexander, being incredibly effusive and ebullient, and very helpful, needs to know when to tone down his talkativeness. Perhaps he was being overly attentive because there were not many patrons... He did make a suggestion regarding the lack of certain menu items. When one makes their reservation, tell the restaurant what you want so they can ensure they have it. This wouldn't work for a first time visitor, but good advice for a patron that knows the menu.

I don't typically leave reviews but god dayum! Y'all gotta check this place out! Got a 4meat platter with Brisket, Nashville and Jerk chicken, Smoked pulled Pork, mac and cheese with spicy beans (Hot Mess) and roasted potatoes and omfg it was SO GOOD. Unfortunately they didn't have any ribs available but that just gives us another reason to go back. The drinks were incredibly good aswell (got a Tenessee Coffee and a Furious George)! Our hostess/waitress was also an absolute delight. ❤️

This dinner for four LOOKS great, but the flavour is extremely lack luster. The spicey beans were hard, the ribs were dry with no smoke flavour, and their famous corn bread was dry. No sauces were offered to us or even salt and pepper. I was so looking forward to good Mac and cheese and it was watery. 😔 It was VERY expensive $$ and disappointing. We won't be back!

Somehow the universe knew a random meat photo on his Instagram would make us come check this place out. We made a reservation for 4 people, sat immediately by a very kind server. The cocktail menu was super fun. We all got the spicy watermelon margaritas and ended up ordering another round during dinner. Sooo yummy and not over done. We ended up just committing to not being able to breathe and be at the Un-do your pants level. Lol We ordered the 4 person, $250 all in. That per couple made the most sense for all the options as we could barely decide what hot to get. We could see the chef working away on our food. Ambience was great, we caught up as friends and waited a normal amount of time for how much we ordered. When everything hit the table it was silence. Lol the flavors were done so well. Brisket mac and cheese, roasted potatoe, smoked beans, and the popcorn grits. For meats we had pulled pork, southern fried chicken, ribs, brisket and sausage. There wasn't anything us 2 ladies complained about or didnt try as we arnt big meat people.... but I finally experienced the meat sweats. Never had them before... but this was worth it. The men enjoyed everything and we took some left overs home. 100% recommend. This team didn't do bbq sauce heavy, not American-ized food chain style either. Realllyy unique and went together so well.

Ok folks, you literally have to go here with intent to chow down. This was a super awesome place to attend with our party of 5. Make a reservation as it is so popular and busy. Went in on a Sat at 5.30 pm and left 7.40 pm. As this is a group ordering system and per table ready feast extraordinaire. As a group we chose the 3 meats and 2 sides and we all still left with doggy bags. 3 hearty men and 2 women. Now alcohol is the money cruncher of every bill but we all got choices. The food was just amazing. Hubby is in love with their brisket. The ribs were my least favorite but the chicken oh my God, I can't eat everyday. Sides were complimentary to the meal and even got the corn bread. Our bill was close to $400 but it's also a pp menu so that was like $44 per person. The whole experience was like nothing we have attended and staff were just super great and so friendly. The atmosphere is so up beat, like a home gathering with music and laughter in the background. So happy we tried and will be back for sure. Well worth the cost and the leftovers supplied me lunch for 2 days afterwards too.

Delicious casual farm style dinner. We chose 3 meats + 2 sides plenty for 4. Reasonable price. Moist brisket, tender fried chicken, flavourful pork shoulder, amazing brisket mac & cheese and perfect coleslaw. We will be back to taste more of this menu. Quick, friendly, attentive service. Make a reservation, very busy and not a large place. Not kid friendly, fabulous for group of 4 or more. Loved the atmosphere, definitely recommend!
