A UofT students' favourite. Why visit: 1) Fresh dumplings and buns 2) Prompt no nonsense service. While not a personalised service but it is fine if you are there for good food. 3) Prices are reasonable 4) Perfect location near Spadina and college intersection

We wanted dim sum and decided to go here. We are visiting from the states for the weekend. First impression when we walked in, wow it’s busy! Food must be good! It’s always a plus when we see restaurants filled with Asians. We waited for a bit and sat down. We waited 15-20 minutes before a server finally came over to take our order. We ordered hot and sour soup. The waiter said our hot and sour soup is sweet. Ummm so it’s hot and sweet soup? We should have just stuck to congee. But no we continued to order the soup anyways. It was sweet like he said and we only took a few bites. Definitely do not recommend it. Only if you like your soup sweet. The dim sum we ordered was good! Shrimp dumplings, chicken feet and shrimp rice rolls. There are so many choices of dim sum in Chinatown and we won’t be returning back here in the future.

If you’re looking for large shrimp and large portion dim sum all day, this is your place. Super nice they provide tea on the house and all service was very nice. Unfortunately, not enough space for traditional rolling carts. Know in advance they only accept cash or Visa. Finding parking can be tricky.

This is my second time visiting Rol San. The first time was before COVID, and now we're back to try their new location. The taste is still as good as before. Our favourites are the har gow, tentacles, and siomai. Although the sizes of the dim sum are a bit small compared to other dim sum places like in Markham, we may just prefer the bigger portions. Overall, we loved the taste.

I've had dim sum from Rol San many times over the last few years. The dim sum is yummy and tastes fresh. The prices are average. Customer service could be better; the waiters are pretty curt and rude. I recommend ordering take out rather than dining in.

We waited 15 mins for a table. The front of the house comes in and out several times to do a headcount but takes ages to get a table. The tables are prepped in an Indian wedding way. They've got sheets of plastic on the table pre-laid. When you're done they pull the sheet down with the remains and the next person sits. The seats are not cleaned if food is spilled. The focus is not on service but on bringing in the maximum number of people. Food is on the expensive side and not value. They slyly drop a kettle of tea which you may think is free but it's $1.50. The dumpling portions are small 4/5 compared to other places. The beef with rice in chef's sauce and the same on Sizzler pricing is insane. Sizzler is $15 more than the same dish on a plate. Not enough napkins, no one tops up water unless asked, the person doesn't come to the table with the machine to pay so you sit there for a while until you walk to the cashier to pay despite paying a service charge automatically. There is a 15% service charge which is nowhere on the menu, entrance or when the order is taken. Overall the restaurant would pull a quick one on you.

This place had some of the most delicious food during our trip to Toronto. Good enough portions for the price so you got to try a lot of different foods. The bbq buns were my personal favorite, along with the fried squid and custard buns. They do charge an automatic 15% tip however that wasn't an issue for us as the service was great. Will definitely be back!

Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Ambience: 5 Stars Value: 5 Stars Overall: 5 Stars Rol San has been one of my favourite dim sum spots in the city for as long as I can remember. I’ve been coming here since I was a baby, and my family has known the owner for such a long time. This long-standing relationship has led to the staff members knowing us by name, always providing an optimal experience with a personal touch. The dim sum at Rol San is always flavourful and delicious. My absolute favourite is the deep-fried squid tentacles paired with their unbeatable in-house hot sauce. Every bite is a delightful burst of flavour that keeps me coming back. The quality of the food here is consistently top-notch, and you can tell that the chefs put a lot of care into each dish. Since Rol San moved to their new location, I’ve noticed a few changes. The dim sum menu has gotten smaller, which was a bit disappointing at first since I loved the variety they used to offer. However, the quality remains excellent, and I’m hopeful that they will expand the menu again in the future. The new location has a modern feel, but I do miss the charm of the old place. Love the new expansions, fixed the seating issues and brought back a lot of the menu items we missed in the past. The combination of fantastic food, familiar faces, and a welcoming atmosphere keeps me coming back time and time again. The staff's attention to detail and the personalized service we receive make every visit special. If you’re looking for a great dim sum experience with consistently delicious food, Rol San is definitely worth a visit. xx kellychan360
