The restaurant recently changed its name. They still offer dim sum and traditional chinese dishes. They currently have a grand opening dim sum promotion. Very good service. The waitress did not push us to leave even after we finished dinner, and continued refilling our water. She also mentioned they will be renovating after chinese new year.

Full house during early morning dim sum which is a good indication. Good size, service , price. Dont miss special item like BBQ rice Food is not high quality, one dim sum was not cooked fully resulting in raw meat. Will come back especially no HST

Heard they have rebranded so took the advantage of now $6 per dish on top of the 10% discount. Food still like before, only so so but services degraded their rating to 1 star. The lady was asked to give more tips given we have already put 10+%. I really wanted to question her "do you worth for 13%? where we had waited for a replacement dim sum for the sake of 20+ mins because of their mistake??" It's their lost of loosing a customer because of asking for an extra $1 or so. If isn't this incident, I would have give 3 or 4 stars so Good luck Purple Orchid!

This new dim sum place is open on previous 黄金阁 location where we used to visit. They are having a promotional price for SML dim sum’s the same price at $5.5 for weekdays, $6 for weekends. Inside is spacious with a lot of seatings, and the decor has not been changed. The food is fast and average quality, but the service here is not very attentive, I think that because shortage of staff, and the servers seemed unhappy , needs a lot of improvements in this area.

Located in the Jubilee Square on the north west corner of Hwy 7 and West Beaver Creek. Purple Orchid opened up in the prior location of Golden Court Restaurant. There is a large parking lot with many accessible parking spots out front. The restaurant is large and plenty of room inside to move around and not feel confined by the arrangements. There is an early bird promotion for all small - large items being $5.00 if ordered before 11am and $6.00 afterwards. The food quality is A-OK and service is friendly and quick. Have not tried their dinners and will return to give them a try

We celebrated a special occasion at Purple Orchid in a private room with several tables. The food was flavorful and well-prepared, and the ambiance added a nice touch to the evening. Service was attentive and friendly, a great choice for celebrations.

Gave Purple Orchid a chance now that Golden Court has closed, although the space and much of the staff is the same. Unfortunately there is a noticeable difference in quality in the food though. We tried a few dim sum items which were ok but some things were pretty bad. The scallop spinach dumpling had good flavour but my piece was undercooked with raw shrimp inside. The baked sago pudding was a strange orange colour and overly sweet, with very little lotus seed paste. The baked BBQ bun had too much alcohol flavour. And the crispy shrimp rice noodle roll was sour. Overall, pretty disappointed in the food. Service was very good and apologetic for the issues we experienced.

The former longstanding Golden Court Abalone has now become Purple Orchid, but in many cases you wouldn’t notice the difference. The interior and decor is the exact same, the old signage is still there too, just draped over with the Purple Orchid sign 😂 those things aside, I was pleasantly surprised with the dim sum here. Right now they’re doing a grand opening special where S/M/L dishes are one price even after the early bird special. We got an assortment of different dim sum dishes and all of them were done pretty well, I particularly like the BBQ pork in the baked BBQ pork buns and the BBQ pork rice noodle rolls. Service was friendly and attentive, especially for a Chinese restaurant. It was also not crowded at all even during Saturday lunch, probably because the ownership change hasn’t been widely publicized (I heard from word of mouth from a family friend). Definitely worth checking them out for a tasty and more affordable dim sum fix in Richmond Hill.
