Pizza Rock - The Wood Burning Pizza

I gave instructions on the web when ordering plus when I arrived I asked for very thin extra crispy undercarraige and outside crust. I gave a 15% tip as I always do. The owner assured me it was crispy as ordered, I asked him to put it back in, he did for about 1 min. I had a slice as soon as I got into my truck. Flavour if fine but it was not well done, no crisp, and was like a wet noodle for consistency. Why say its crispy if its not. Very dissappointed. Cant people make a well done crust???????? Total flop soggy pepperoni pizza. I wont be back. Now im putting on my pizza stone and bbqing it to get some crisp. Don't be fooled, this isn't a wood fired oven. It has the capabilities to put a piece of wood in for flavoring but it by no means has anything to do with the heat or cooking the pizza. It is a gas-fired oven.

I came in to try the pizza but they don't have slices or small pizzas (just medium and large) so I decided to get the spicy chicken burger instead. It was pretty good and was made hot and fresh. I'll definitely come back to try a pizza.

Ordered pick up for 2 large pizzas (pepperoni and meat lovers) as well as 2 lbs of chicken wings as drove down to Whitby. Prices were decent for what we ordered. I saw crab cakes on the menu and asked my partner to order that when he went in to pick up our order, took a few minutes to cook since it was frozen and just needed to be deep fried. The pizzas smelled amazing in the car drive over to see family. The pizza was thin but nothing special. The meat lovers pizza was a little too salty, the wings were super dry and bland, fries were overcooked and had no seasoning. The crab cake tasted mostly like fillers and had no real crab meat in it. We wouldn't order food from here again, it was disappointing.

Very good very fresh. Can't beat a wood fire pizza and theirs is quite good. Stayed in to eat and the booths are comfortable. One of the only pizza places in the area that actually has very comfortable seating. They have something for everyone.

Really enjoyed Pizza Rock. Tried the pizza, wings, potato wedges and the calzone, all were excellent! The pizza is cooked in a wood burning oven and is thin New York style. I asked the owner if he could deep fry the calzone even though they normally bake it. He happily obliged, the deep fried calzone turned out perfectly, and he topped it with garlic butter! Friendly customer service and atmosphere, free parking and great food. Will definitely go back.

Pizza Rock has to be one of the better pizza places in Durham. All of their ingredients are fresh and of high quality. You can certainly taste the care they put into their food. I ordered from them via Uber before and thought they were good but one day as I was doing some furniture shopping, I drove past their store and decided to go in. Their staff was extremely nice and I had a good conversation with who may have been the owner. I put in my order and got to see the care that they put into their craft. It was then that my appreciation for this place got even higher. Ordering online is great, but eating this pizza fresh out the oven is next level! If you are in the area, definitely give them a chance!

Add me to the list of extremely satisfied customers! Ordered two large pizzas for my construction site and all 12 of us spend the afternoon discussing how good it was. Toppings were plentiful, juicy and appropriately distributed. Crust had a nice texture to it. The food was hot upon arrival, good stuff. Only thing to note is the crust is on the softer side - if you like a crispier/crunchier crust I would add for your food well done. The worst part about the whole experience was not having any leftovers - we will be back!

Eating my pizza while I type. The service was prompt and friendly. The owner was quite engaging and is passionate about his business. We ordered jalapeño poppers and a Pizza Rock pizza. Both are delicious. Lots of toppings, cooked to perfection. I’ve worked 100m from this place for 3 years and I feel guilty it was my first trip. 10/10 recommend. You won’t be disappointed.
