Pho Sam

I've been eating pho for 30 years ago all over the gta. This place is the absolute number 1 place for pho. Not an exaggeration. Bun bo hue is also amazing here and arguably one of the best. The broth here is balanced and yet deep in flavour. That first sip warms you very soul. The owner is a gentle man who comes out to greet and serve the table himself. Such a nice man.

Arguable the most authentic Vietnamese food in Durham. Pleasantly surprised with how extensive their menu is. Their Bon Bo Hue is rich in flavour. We’ve tried their pho before too and they pack it full of herbs. Highly recommend to everyone!

Good taste but the vermicelli portion is smaller than others. The pho sizes are different on this restaurant. What is considered medium size pho at other pho places, it is called “large” at Pho Sam and priced at large size. What is considered small pho size at other pho places, it is called “medium” and priced at medium size. A bit disappointing since they charge normal prices for not normal sizes. The rice dishes have good portion and good taste as well. Would recommend if you don’t mind the pho sizes issue.

We were in Oshawa so we stopped by to try out their Vietnamese food. We were greeted by the owner Sam and he was very friendly and provided attentive service the entire time. The overall restaurant was clean and bright with lots of windows. The rib bone pho is definitely unique and plentiful. It was a massive portion and worth every penny for the price. Their pho broth is overall very flavourful with the strong taste of the ribs. Bun bo hue was a large portion and a bit different than we usually find in KW and Toronto, but also a bit on the oily side. Pho Sam Hu tieu (#307) had small shrimp topping that made it unique. The sides of herbs were fragrant and fresh.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pho Sam, and it was truly a delightful experience. From the moment I stepped in, the pleasant aroma wafting through the restaurant immediately captured my senses. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, creating a perfect setting for a memorable meal. The highlight was undoubtedly the soup number 210. Bursting with an exquisite blend of flavors, it left my taste buds in awe. The generous amount of tender meat in the soup added a delightful texture to each spoonful. Pho Sam is undoubtedly a must-visit for anyone seeking a satisfying and flavorful Vietnamese dining experience.

We usually have a go to in Durham for viet dishes but they were closed for vacation so we happened to go a little further to try this place. Gotta say, I’m impressed with the dishes I’ve ordered so far. I’ve eaten from their menu twice now. I usually only write bad experience reviews but this deserved a little bit of my time. ❤️ you guys wowed me with your authentic Vietnamese flavors. Comparable with other awesome Pho stores in Toronto because it was best Bun Bo Hue I’ve found in Durham so far! The taste is definitely the acquired taste I’ve been searching for. They’ve nailed the authentic flavors of this dish and I will definitely be coming here more often. I can’t wait to try their other special Vietnamese dishes.

My favourite Pho spot in Whitby! Generous portions, great food and beautiful presentation. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The crispy shrimp and chicken rolls are delicious and they always give us each our own dipping sauce! Would come back here again and again.
