Penny's Hot Chicken

Had medium tenders. Not much flavour and the coleslaw was not good enough. Waffle fries were also not seasoned very well. General feedback would be that everything needs seasoning. Not sure if I'll be back

If you like fried chicken, you should at least give this place a try. The pieces are well breaded and big and juicy. The coleslaw falls real flat, just not much flavour at all. I have tried 2 times, and found the portion sizing on the 'hot boxes' to be very good. The first time I tried, I exercised caution and tried medium hot. I could not taste any heat whatsoever. I picked medium after all, so I figured this wasn't really an issue. On my second I chose Very Hot (even says 'Its damn hot') and staff said it should be spicier than sriracha. Again, I noticed the tinest amount of heat, with no burn whatsoever. If you like fried chicken, give it a visit. If you like spicy food, it doesn't seem to deliver.

Great food with great service!! I love spicy chicken & this place does it right. Not sure what some of these other reviews are talking about?? It's fried chicken, meant to be greasy delicious. It's a take out restaurant so why talk about their seating?? The amount of food they give you won't be leaving hungry. Loved it and would highly put on must come back list!

Delicious food with MASSIVE portions! The honey chicken was wonderful, waffle fries soft but delicious and the fried pickles were a delight! It's a whole in the wall but so worth getting take out. The price reflects in the portion size

Honestly worth it for dollar value! The portions and size given are extremely impressive. Penny’s classic chicken sandwich is MASSIVE, though I can’t say it’s the best I’ve ever had. The chicken was greasy and salty, slaw within the sandwich was bland, the bun was alright though. Very much a challenge to finish the whole meal— not saying that it was terrible but just very heavy. Waffle fries are a must! Love the cut and they were fried crispy, great with the honey dip. Chicken tenders were okay, once again crispy and greasy. Salty in flavour but lacking that Nashville taste. As for the atmosphere, I wasn’t expecting it to be completely take out in a small food court with barely any seating. Not an issue, just wasn’t what I expected. No bathroom on site, and very little service that comes with the food. Great spot for a hungry student in the area, but not sure if I’d come back for the food itself.

We went here after seeing a tiktok about it and they did not disappoint! I honestly thought things would be very spicy so I went for the medium spicy while my boyfriend went for the Nashville hot but I tried both of them and they weren’t really that spicy, although both delicious! We got one sandwich platter with the nacho cheese dip and waffle fries and the chicken tenders combo that comes with pickles, coleslaw and a side so we can try most of everything on their menu and it was a great decision! The fried chicken pieces were very big and crispy and delicious. The waffles fries were not soggy at all and they were so good! We also got the comeback sauce and honestly it was reallyyyyy good. The chicken tenders were also soooo good! Everything is decently priced too. We both spent $30 something on all our food. We would definitely go back!!

Delicious Nashville hot chicken sandwiches done right. Chicken thighs with a light crispy batter dipped and covered spices. Reasonably priced and food was prepared and seasoned well. One of the best chicken sandwiches in the city

Went here for lunch today and ordered the Penny's Classic "HOT" sandwich combo to include Mac n Cheese wedges. Waited just over 30mins from ordering until food was ready. Only two guys working here scrambling during a busy lunch hour. Seriously understaffed. Although the chicken was big and crunchy, the bun was quite soggy. Love tangy sour pickles, but sweet pickles have no place on a chicken sandwich or any dish in my opinion. The flavor of the chicken was the biggest letdown here. There was some sort of super intense added seasoning to the chicken, sort of like the taste of liquid smoke resulting in a very salty saturated BBQ potato chip flavor. Rather unpleasant. Don't know it this flavor is in the seasoning or the batter, but it's not nice. Mac n Cheese wedges were nothing to write home about, looked like store bought from the freezer section. The whole meal left me feeling ultra thirsty and gross feeling. Don't think I'll be going back
