Pancer's Original Deli

We came here twice. The first time the experience was great- the sandwiches were done just right, delicious, and the service was great. However, our second visit here, we were given overly cooked and very dry sandwiches and our waitress really was not happy to service us- I’m not sure what we did to make her dislike us. Afraid to visit here again after the mixed experiences. I’ve attached pictures from both visits- once with the sandwiches pinkish and done right and second with the overly dry brown sandwiches.

We got the pastrami mixed with corn beef sandwich, it was a great sandwich. We also got the beef tongue which ended up being amazing. I loved the slaw they serve with it. The staff is sweet & friendly and the place is really clean. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. The prices are also amazing for the combos.

Real authentic diner. Staff is friendly. Food is delicious, and portions are huge and so fresh. It actually was enough for lunch and either dinner or lunch the next day. Pickles, new or old, are both a must.

Amazing Experience. Went on Monday to have some sandwiches. Best Turkey Club and Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwiches! 😍😍 Will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

This was my first time here with my husband. We walked in and saw a big sign that said seat yourself. As soon as we sat down we were greeted by Christine. She was exceptionally friendly and attentive. We started off with a homemade matzo ball soup. It was so flavourful, perfect temperature and the matzo was the perfect texture. My husband had the corned beef sandwich with fries, coleslaw and a pickle. I had the Montreal smoked meat sandwich with fries, coleslaw and a pickle. You can choose a mustard to go with your sandwich. The bread was fresh and warm and the meet was sliced right in front of us and the perfect temperature. We were recommend to try a side of gravy with our fries. The gravy and the fries were perfect. Crispy fries and a full bodied gravy. The pickles were so incredible that we purchased a gar to take home. If you are in the area this is a must try!!!

If you want really good deli in North York /Thornhill it seems you need access to a Time Machine to go back to the 90’s 🤣 Maybe I came on a bad night. Turkey club sandwich was dry and the toasted bread came to me cold. Not a lot of turkey either TBH. It wasn’t bad, just not great. The place was super busy / noisy too with a lot of tables crammed into a small space. Only 1 waitress working who had a lot on her hands. I normally like Pancers though and noticed most people there got pastrami or smoked meat sandwiches. Smart move. Those looked much better and had lots of meat. Next time I’ll get take out and not a turkey bacon club. I miss good turkey clubs.

I would say Pancer's is my number one choice for a great deli in Toronto. Very cozy, relaxed atmosphere. We had great service from Gabriella who answered all our questions and made great suggestions. She was very attentive, even brought us containers before we asked her for our take home bag. The portions were delicious and substantial !!! We were three and ordered Reuben, Chopped liver platter and the Corned Beef Sandwich. Highly recommend this deli!!

Not sure why it’s taken me this long to find this place but I’m so glad I finally did. This a family business that seems to have been doing it right for many years. It’s really easy to miss it if you’re just driving by but I’m telling you it’s sure worth a stop one day. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It was cozy and kept really clean. The service was super friendly and quick. The food was amazing most importantly and the pricing was more than fair. As per my waitresses suggestion I decided to try their house made Pastrami Sandwich combo that came with a hefty Sandwich with soft and delicious meat (I did the $2 upgrade for extra meat and was so worth it) also came with a nice portion of piping hot fries along with some coleslaw and a pickle. I also added a side of gravy and I’m so glad I did because this might be some of the best gravy around it blew my mind. I think my entire bill came to less than $25 and was well worth it. This place is a little out of the way for me but that doesn’t matter because when places are doing it right like this it’s always well worth the drive. Kudos to them for doing a great job across the board as I’ll definitely be a return customer after a fantastic first experience.
