If only they were located closer! I love rice balls and we happened to walked past this joint on Saturday afternoon so we stopped by and ordered the shitake mushroom and the spicy pork rice balls (aka omusubi) to go. These rice balls were pretty huge and tasty. If I had to be picky the rice could be seasoned a bit more, but overall I enjoyed them very much. And such a cool dining experience with these individual stalls. I'm already craving more of their rice balls and next time I would love to try their combos which comes with soup.

The restaurant is more like the size of a food truck located within a street with similar sized mini restaurants. There are also picnic benches available to sit on with umbrellas on top. They mainly sell Japanese rice balls or Omusubi and Japanese comfort food, as well as Dango and drinks. I ordered the Oyakodon (chicken and egg donburi, $13.27) and a Mitarashi Dango (sticky and chewy rice balls with a sweet soy sauce sauce on top, $3.00). The Oyakodon was delicious. The chicken was smooth and easy to eat. The egg was soft and fluffy. There's this sweet and savory sauce throughout the entirety of the dish. The pickled radish and ginger cleansed the palate. The seaweed was an added flavour. The Mitarashi Dango was sweet, chewy and sticky. On one stick came with 4 Dango balls. It also came in a green leaf kind of bowl thing. It's only my second time eating a Mitarashi Dango, and it does taste better than the store bought one. The service was good and fast, considering that I ordered a hot food (10 min wait time). Service was also polite. The lady answered my questions well regarding the size of the Oyakodon bowl. It seems like there are seasonal dishes and snacks that come out during the specific seasons. I guess I'll be coming back here every so often to try the seasonal stuff. Overall, I was pleased with what I got. I wanted to try the Sesame Dango too, but that's for my next visit. I wanted to try their Omusubi, but they were more expensive than expected, so I didn't get any. I read that they have Oden during the colder months, so I'm tempted to return to eat some.

Got the shiitake omusubi. Service was fast (3 minutes or so to get my rice ball) and price was reasonable. Cute stand. Not a huge fan of the omusubi but that's probably down to this being my first rice ball experience and I may just not be a fan of rice balls. The mushroom filling was good, for what that's worth. I also really enjoyed the yuzu-nade.

Been wanting to try this place for awhile and today was the day. They are mostly known for their “rice balls”. We placed our order at around 12:15pm via QR code and it was ready in about 15 mins. By 1230pm it looked like she had already run out of some flavours and people were disappointed….so come earlier.. she opens at 11:30am even though on Google it says 12 noon…summer hours maybe? We tried the Teriyaki Chicken and Garlic Mushroom Rice Balls. They are Onigiri, and technically triangular and not round (ie balls). The rice was a nice glutinous consistency, and the filling was quite generous once you get to the middle. In terms of taste, it was on the bland side. I brought one home and added some soy sauce and chilli oil which definitely enhanced the taste. There are a few benches and picnic tables for you eat but again, it’s first come, first served highly likely they are all taken. Very few shady spots so bring a hat if you don’t like sitting directly under the sun. Overall, it’s a nice cheap and cheerful meal/snack. Will definitely try the other menu items on my next visit.

2024 May 4★ Along the street, this street vendor offers Japanese Omusubi/onigiri and other food options. Difference between Omusubi and Onigiri... Both are rice balls, and the contents are the same. They are simply called by different names depending on the region and the shape. Spicy pork Miso $4.05 Very good. Salty and spicy. Would recommend. Sweet potato/Yam $4.05 Pretty good. Great vegetarian option. Chicken teriyaki $4.29 Good, but the pork was way better. Dango $3 Rice ball sweet style. Sesame glaze. It's ok. Certainly worth checking out. A few tables along the street. If it is raining, there are tables you can use in the community center.

If I lived or worked in this area, I would always be here. I love the onigiri at this place. All the flavours are great, but my favourites are ume shio and tuna green onion. Trying the flavour of the month is always fun and seasonal. The woman who works there is so kind and sweet. I also like the dango. This shop is my favourite onigiri place in the city.

My new favourite place in Toronto!!! Yesterday I was walking home and came across Omusubi and my world has been changed. What this quaint little restaurant lacks in size, makes up for in atmosphere, quality, price and deliciousness! I ended up ordering the Salmon and Japanese Sweet Potato rice ball, and let me tell you, they were INCREDIBLE. I recently visited Japan, and these rice balls rivaled and beat almost anything I ate while there. They were the size of a big mac and the fillings were fresh and tasty - and they came to $8! While waiting to order, I just sat back and watched the chef prepare the Miso Eggplant Don, and my mouth was watering. Typically these smaller container restaurants are a single deep fryer, but here it was a proper stove, with a chef who actually has care and love for what she was creating. For $13, you can get yourself a homemade cozy meal. Lastly, the atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect. It felt like looking into a window of someone's house. Pots and pans hanging from the walls, cool, smooth jazz playing and suttle Japanese decoration that complete the space. I cannot recommend Omusubi enough, and I look forward to supporting this business for hopefully years to come! 🍘🍙🍘🍙🍘🍙
