Really nice brunch spot! The food was amazing and the portions were huge. You have to get the katsu sandwich, there was so much chicken. I love that the bread was buttered, the chicken was crispy yet juicy and it came with a bit of a kick form the sauce. The fires were also very well season and had some seaweed flavoring to it which was good. The carbonara udon was also cooked very well, the pork was season nicely. The sauce was really creamy. The drinks were got were also very tasty, we got the Kyoto matcha latte (cold only) and Hojicha latte. The cafe is very very small and they don’t allow reservations on the weekends so wait times can be very long. As it is first come first serve, we waited around 40 minutes but the people ahead of us waited an hour before they got seated. Service was pretty good and our food came out quickly. There was a bit of miscommunication on drinks but other than that we really enjoyed it.

This is a Japanese-style brunch spot specializing in waffles and sandos. The sando is made with Japanese milk bread that has a rich, creamy aroma, and the pork cutlet is very crispy and delicious. The only thing I don’t quite understand is that each dish is quite large. Girls with smaller appetites likely won’t be able to finish a whole serving, and on weekends, they require each person to order one. So, if two people come, you either end up overly full or have to take leftovers. Unfortunately, reheating them for a second meal doesn’t taste as good, which takes away from the experience.

What a delicious brunch experience at Ohiru! I ordered the Chicken Katsu Sando and every bite was so juicy. The bread was soft and perfectly toasted, the chicken was tender and crispy, and the accompanying sauce was one of a kind. The Kinako Sesame Latte was a soothing hot drink on a cold fall day. We waited 1.5 hours for a table on a Saturday but it was worth the wait! Once you sign up for the waitlist, you can see all the other parties ahead of you and the amount of time they've been waiting which kind of gives you an idea of how long it will be (~75+ min wait). I'm excited for my next brunch date!

We have come to this cafe near to the Kensington market. The Taro and Hojicha lattes are very tasty! The Egg Benedict’s are very well made. The Mixed Berry waffles are filled with a lot of berries. We are really enjoying the brunch!

Had a great brunch at Ohiru midweek. The service is very polite and attentive. Being vegetarian, it’s nice to see at least one meaningful veggie option on every segment of the menu. And Ohiru does it so well. The vegetarian options are able to stand their own against the non-vegetarian options. The Tamago Sando was absolutely fantastic. And the recipient of the Mushroom Spinach Benny couldn’t have raved about it more … and they aren’t even vegetarian. The little nods to Japanese cuisine complement the brunch menu perfectly. This isn’t trying to be exclusively one or the other, but it perfectly melds the two into a delightful spot for comfort food. I will definitely be making a return visit. Thank you.

Ohiru is a cozy little Japanese cafe on College street. I ordered the chashu benny that came with potatoes and salad. I really like the flattened mini potatoes which were lightly salted. The salad dressing felt like was home made, but the salad could be a bit fresher. The chashu pork seemed like a good cut of meat, but was a bit tough for the less fatty section. The hollandaise sauce was a bit too sour for my liking. I’m pretty sure they were trying to make the pork belly feel less fatty that way, but the sauce did not seem to pair super well with the chashu The matcha latte was good, but they could consider cutting back on the sugar level. @Ohirucafe

Great Japanese fusion brunch restaurant; only open til mid afternoon. No reservations but they have a wait list in their restaurant and they can text you when a table is free. Portions here are big and prices fair. Nice to see the use of shokupan (Japanese milk bread) in all their dishes involving bread. It’s definitely softer on the inside. The miso l syrup they use for waffles is also really tasty and better than actual maple syrup. Egg sando def brings back memories of the sandwiches Japan is famous for, albeit with less mayo.

I ordered Udon Carbonara which was really good just the bacon was a bit salty to me. the Side order of 🐔 Karrage like a fist ✊🏻 size, but it seems over marinated with sake, may be just this batch.... taste still authentic and crunchy . Matcha 🍵 Latte are the best. Very sincere service, even the cafe are very tiny with 10 tables inside and street seats with 2tables.
