Nutmeg Creole Kitchen

A group of us contracted Nutmeg Creole to cater our New years Eve dinner and New Year’s Day breakfast. Wow! We were impressed with the Jerk Chicken, Oxtail Mac & Cheese for our dinner. We also had rice & peas and salad. Everything was delivered on time. Breakfast New Year’s Day also did not disappoint. The Fried Chicken and Waffles were excellent, it was so popular, we had no leftovers. The French Toast was another hit with everyone. We also ordered the scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages with potato hash. Again, our order was delivered on time. Will definitely check out their restaurant at some point.

INCREDIBLE!!! The Oxtail Supreme with Creole Gravy was 10/10. Tender oxtail meat, the Creole gravy was flavourful, rice and pigeon peas were fluffy and delicious. The Mac and Cheese Bake was also so delicious, creamy and cheesy. The Herb Roasted Chicken was BANGING!! I love Caribbean food, however sometimes it’s too heavy but all of this was so fresh and light, and didn’t leave a heavy feeling after we ate. You gotta try this place. What a gem ❤️

First time dining at Nutmeg Creole Kitchen. Food was fresh, well balanced, and cooked well. Highly recommend the jerk chicken meal. The jerk was spicy without being overpowering with a hint of sweetness. The rice and peas was soft but not mushy. Vegetables were crunchy and were nice touch to the dish.

Found this restaurant through Uber eats. The food is very delicious and always well prepared. The portion sizes are good and the prices are reasonable and not overly expensive. Overall rating 10/10 would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for good comfort food.

I’m so glad I found Nutmeg Creole through the Uber Eats app And also on a day that I was not feeling well and I needed something wholesome and delicious to eat. I’ve ordered through Uber apps twice now and in the future, I’ll call in for take out. I’m from Jamaica, so I am very familiar with oxtail stew. I ordered the oxtail and it had a slightly different flavour from what I’m used to, but it was pleasantly delicious. Oxtail meat was tender, and the gravy went perfectly with the pigeon peas. Pigeon pea Rice, I am used to it being called gungo peas rice. This might seem like a small thing, but I have to comment on it; Usually, the steam vegetables that accompany oxtail are not pleasing to me, but the carrots and the broccoli or carrots were cooked so that they were neither too soft or too hard and also had a hint of flavour that I don’t usually find in steam vegetables and it made it taste good. I also ordered the jerk chicken, the Georgia fried chicken, coconut simmer down stew, Dublin, pigeon pea soup, diplomat bread pudding, lemon cake, plantain, roasted sweet potatoes. I absolutely adore pigeon pea soup. It is so delicious and reminds me of my grandmother’s pea soup. The spinners in the soup are the perfect size and they are moist and soft. The soup itself is nice lick consistency that sticks to your bones. Perfect for the upcoming winter. The coconut simmer down stew is also terrific. There was a bit of cilantro garnish that would normally make me not want to eat it but it was so delicious that I picked out every tiny piece of coriander and polished it off. This is just my personal dislike of coriander though, and does not reflect on the dish itself. My hubby loves the jerk chicken and he’s picky. His exact words were the jerk chicken and the rice and peas are exquisite. He is also a fan of Korean fried chicken and he said that he will be getting the Georgia fried chicken from Nutmeg Creole Kitchen instead. I was excited to try the diplomat bread pudding because there was a similar bread pudding that was served in a popular restaurant in Montego Bay, Jamaica that we frequented when I was a child. It was moist and creamy and the meringue on the top need for the perfect touch. I did however, find the lemon cake to be a bit dry. Since moving to Durham region in 2019 I have not found a restaurant that I would rave about like this one. I am very grateful to Chef Fred and his team for offering this wonderful, delicious, well priced food. I encourage anyone reading my review to give this establishment a try. I am positive that you will find something on the menu that you’ll want to eat over and over again.

I was in Ajax and stumbled upon this place after a quick google search. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Their oxtail recipe is one I’ve never experienced before and it was a nice switch up! It was delicious and just what I needed for lunch ahaha 🤪

Great food- you can smell and taste the seasonings what makes it different from other places. We had the oxtail and chicken and waffles. Food was fresh, hot and tasty. Presentation was nice too.

Tastiness - 10/10 Food Aesthetic - 10/10 Total Price - 10/10 Portion size- 10/10 I'm a believer 😭🥳 I almost never try out newly opened places but I decided to take a leap of faith for the first time and boy - am I glad that I did! We got the Jazz Jerk Chicken Meal and Georgia Fried Chicken. Every single piece of the dish made the meal ten times more delicious - with every bite, you think this is the best bite but then you take a new bite and you think - no, this is. Needless to say, it was an endless loop of delicious! Take it from me - I eat takeout quite often, however, I rarely write reviews. But this time, I had to. It would be a disservice to the public if I didn't. Try it!! P.S. I ordered from Uber Eats 👌
