Niwa Japanese Restaurant

Best sushi in Oakville, in GTA even. The freshness and taste can't be beat. My favourite is the salmon fire roll, haven't tasted anything like it anywhere else. Also they got a great party tray that's just different dragon rolls, none of that cucumber roll nonsense.

I have been going to Niwa Sushi for a while now and I love their sushi and its very cozy. However, the service is HORRIBLE especially the last 2 times I visited but let me share what happened in my last visit as this was the worst one out of all of them. We go in as a group of 4 and we just sat, it’s been exactly a minute and the server came and asked us if we’re ready to order? We didn’t even look at the menu yet. Keep in mind the place was pretty empty so I don’t get why the rush. We were still deciding when she came again not even 2/3 mins after the first time she asked and asked us if we are ready and we still told her to give us a couple of more minutes. Finally the 3rd time she came we were almost ready and then gave her the order a couple of mins after. Meanwhile, the server doesn’t really smile at you, the impression she gave by doing that was sending the message that she wants us out of here as soon as possible. She didn’t even ask us if we need water as we sat or anything and we have to keep asking for stuff. Fast forward the food came and she dropped a piece of sushi on the table and my friend was kind enough to tell her its okay don’t worry about it but she just said sorry and left and didn’t bother offering to make us a new roll or even wipe the table. One more thing, one of my friends ordered a takeout order for herself at the beginning to take home and it was extremely clear that the order is for her so it shouldn’t be split between our 4 bills and will be just added to one of the bills. However, when our bills came we noticed something off so my friend asked her if she added her order to our bills and she said yes. We asked her to get us new bills with the correct numbers and she just said “Oh, I can’t do that.” We all looked at her and we were obviously annoyed and we were nice enough to not make a big deal and asked her to tell us at least how much that take out order was so that our friend can e-transfer each one of us the amount divided by 4. Can you imagine the hassle? When it was time for us to pay, my friend paid and tipped her 15%, then it was my turn, I was like fine I did not like the service at all so I’m not tipping and as long as one or at least 2 others tip that should work. She took my receipt, looked at it, and then had the audacity to tell me, “you did not tip!” I looked at her with complete shock at first and then I said “so how much money do you want?” She said, “oh it’s up to u” and what not. And then she looked at me again and kept saying yeah you didn’t tip for a 2nd time. I looked at her again and was like my friends will just tip you. And my friends were still nice enough and tipped her $3 each after what she told me because they felt bad for her. Moral of the story is, I wholeheartedly do not recommend this place for anyone planning to go for a dine in as they probably wanna serve you and get rid of you as fast as they can. Horrible service!

When you look at restaurants you typically look at the atmosphere, style, design of the restaurant. That's what Niwa is missing. It looks kind of sketchy. However, the food will take your mind away from the older looks and bring your attention to how good the food is. My mom, dad and I went to try out this place for dinner, I was sceptical at first. But I decided to try it anyways. Good service, not busy at all. Shrimp tempura was amazing!! We ordered a bunch of sushi, it was so good. And I am obsessed with sushi so it was one of the best ones I've ever tried. Their sushi won't disappoint you. The volcano rolls, dynamite rolls, and green dragon were my favourite:)))

Hands down the best sushi restaurant in Oakville. Has NEVER disappointed me...except on Sundays when they were closed lol. Very high quality ingredients, amazing service, attention and the chef is absolutely masterful. The food is delicious and visually delightful every time, whether it's dine in or take out. Highly recommend it! In the pics are the Fire Roll Maki, Veggie Dragon Roll B Maki, Double Philadelphia Maki and the Salmon Sushi Pizza. Paired with Green Teas, a favorite for us!

Decent quality but the tako sashimi was only okay for the price. It's a bit expensive. I also ordered the Philadelphia roll which was portioned well. I ordered the Big Dynamite roll as well which was delicious but missing the tobiko. Packaged nicely for take out. I was told 15 to 20 minutes wait time for my order and it was ready in less than 15 minutes. Friendly woman took my order. I'll definitely visit again.

After months of craving sushi (lockdowns, ugh) we finally decided to order some. And we made the right choice in choosing Niwa to satisfy our cravings. They did not disappoint!! We had 4 types of dragon rolls, tempura, spring rolls and seaweed salad and everything was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be ordering again. Went for lunch and really had an enjoyable time. Small mom and pop restaurant in a strip mall that is nicer inside than outside. You wouldn't guess from the sign that the place unremarkable. Decor is pleasant and fitting, with the sushi prep counter right in the middle. Limited seating with booths too, but when we went it seemed like they were short staffed and service was not fast. Food was fresh and nicely presented. Good variety with Korean menu items also included in the mix. Prices are average. Large parking lot, but it is busy. Other restaurants are near by as backup.
