Without a doubt one of the best japanese restaurants I've ever been to! Their menu is focused around sushi and sashimi but there are a lot of cooked dishes as well. Extremely fresh and high quality ingredients are thoughtfully executed here, and its no wonder why this is one of Toronto's oldest sushi joints. The ingredients are so fresh that I, pleasantly, didn't even recognize the flavors of some fish I often order. The black cod may be the single best cooked fish I've ever tasted and highly recommend! Service is excellent, and the decor is beautiful. Traditional feeling, yet intimate and cozy! The menu is on the pricier side but it's absolutely worth it, considering quality and execution is better than most other places I've had in the same price range. Highly, highly recommend!

My all time fav Japanese restaurant in dt. Excellent service and ambiance. Highly recommend their sashimi, all sushi rolls/ nigiri, tempura and grilled meat. Even though it’s on a mid to high price point, it’s totally worth it ! ❤️❤️❤️

*Winterlicious Menu* FOOD: the winterlicious menu has failed me completely, food quality and quantity was really not good. • Oysters: very small, does not have much freshness taste. • Some kind of poached fish: 1 SMALL PEACE of bland, mushy fish sitting in a flavorless broth with an overcooked peace of carrot on top. • Sashimi platter: 5 kinds of fish with 2 small pieces each. It was ok but I'm surprised that there's no salmon. • Wagyu Steak: 100% not wagyu. It's very very bad, very dry and tough. Portion is Tiny! The color of wasabi is quite off to me I'm not sure what happened to it. • Miso Cheesecake: zero miso flavor, it's totally texture of a mousse not a cheesecake. SERVICE: after the food is served my waitress is no where to be seen. Service was ok but it's so hard to get my server or any server over when I sit in the semi private booth/room. They seem to be really short on staff. VIBE: I feel like they been trying to make it an upscale restaurant but the place looks exactly like a normal izakaya or a local Japanese restaurant.

Our visit for my birthday was truly exceptional, all thanks to the outstanding service provided by our waiter, Takuma. His dedication significantly enhanced our experience. The White Course we opted for showcased dishes crafted with high-quality ingredients and presented immaculately. I highly recommend this place for those seeking an elevated Japanese-style dining experience. If it were possible, I'd give more than 5 stars.

I came here to celebrate my wife's birthday with family. I am stuck on how to review this one. I wish we could do halves but I guess I will round it to a 5 star. I will say that staff, ambience and decor are all spot on. We had the private booth in the back, a nice touch of traditional Japanese flooring but with the "comical" bottomed out seating so you do not have to sit cross legged. What I am hung up on is the food and its value. I know sushi is a huge market, and there are levels of quality you expect for certain establishments. For a very upscale restaurant, I was expecting a little more. I hate to compare restaurants, but I just find the portions here are something left to be desired. For the value you get from the orders, you just do not get enough. The quality of fish is good, some exquisite, but some other orders are why add this to your menu at all? An example is the spicy salmon, it just looks pretty similar to what you get at other spots but it might be more expensive with no real reasoning other than the spot you are in. It is a bit unfortunate, but otherwise everything else was fairly stellar. Though the complimentary ice cream was also nothing spectacular. It is a good unique spot for some dishes but not all.

What a great place. I always feel so welcome there. I always know that I'm in for a treat every time I go there. Perfect non-greasy tempura and excellent fresh fish. Also, the miso soup (don't laugh lol) is amazing - there is a depth of flavour that is not common. Often times at other Japanese restaurants, I reject a miso soup because it's never going to be as good as Nami's

3.4/5 The food is decent but way overpriced. The dine-in menu is different from the takeout menu, and the prices seemed abnormally high for the serving sizes. You can, however, expect authentic Japanese food of a certain quality here. The Tempura and Karaage were hot and crispy and quite tasty. We ordered the sushi rolls and Tataki to be shared amongst us and these were good choices as well. The Warayaki Oysters were the only thing we weren’t a fan of as they were a bit fishy. Although the restaurant was quite empty when we visited, our server was absent. We had to waive him down multiple times for water as he seemed overwhelmed serving other tables. Overall, not the best experience despite the polite staff. I was a bit disappointed as we expected better.
