Myeongdong Gyoza Kalguksu - Korean Restaurant (Thornhill)

Once we walked in to this rather hidden restaurant, we were immediately met with smiles and welcoming attitude! The host went out of their way to arrange a table for us despite the restaurant already being packed. Service was definitely a highlight Had the mixed mandu, kalguksu, yukgaejang kalguksu, and dogani kalguksu. I find kimchi is a great predictor of how good a Korean restaurant is - their kimchi was good The mandus were large and juicy. Steamed well and the filling was delicious! Kalguksu was classic. Warmed a belly on a cold day, and the noodles were fun. Could be a bit chewier (comparing to other kalguksu joints I’ve been) The yukgaejang kalguksu was a highlight for me. Caution - it’s fairly spicy. But there were unique vegetables in the broth that had fun textures and tastes. The broth and noodles were good. Deeper and stronger flavours than the classic for sure. The other dishes served at other tables looked good - I would love to come back. The price is a little steeper than I would have anticipated but it seems this is pretty standard across most Korean restaurants nowadays - the bowl of noodles will run you $18-22 so if ordering an additional dish to share you’re looking at $30+ per person.

The service was excellent, and all the staff were very friendly. They consistently asked if I was okay and even offered to peel some pops for us. I highly recommend the pork dumplings.

The atmosphere is nice and very pleasant. Service is great and guys are super polite and friendly. We got bulgogi set and hand set and tteokpokki. All the food came very tasty and it was delicious. Bulgogi are on too, they are not super salty and well cooked. All the sides are perfect. We also want to try dumplings but they have them only with pork :(

The pork dumplings here are delicious. A must try. The kimchi was very flavourful too! Will definitely be coming here again.

Excellent food and excellent service. The noodles are made in-house so definitely worth trying if you're debating between that and rice. This was my first time having Korean style dumplings and they hit the spot on a cold day. The whole meal was like a warm hug.

What a great find. Tucked in a neighborhood plaza - this place offers authentic Korean fare. Menu is small but every dish is on point! Must try their Mandu and of course Kalguksu. Great flavours. And they are open 365 days!!

Pretty tasty food with good portions at reasonable prices. The restaurant was pretty clean and the service was friendly too. I enjoyed my food but my personal tastes say the soup is a bit on the lighter side in terms of richness. They did have sauces though and kimchi to add to the flavor which was quite nice.
