MENKATSU

Visited Sunday lunchtime at one o'clock. There were only a couple of spare tables in the food court. I went with the ramen gyoza combo which comes with four gyoza and a can of soda along with the ramen. Paying cash (discount) it was just over $18 which was pretty good. The ramen tasted very much like pork, more flavour than most ramen I've tried. The size was pretty good so with the combo I believe you get value for money. Staff were friendly and efficient and I didn't have long to wait.

Don't pay attention to any of the negative feedback here. If someone gives this place anything less than 5 stars, the issue is with them, not the restaurant or the food. This is one of the very few places in Toronto that offers the most authentic Korean soups. Consider yourself lucky to have found this gem in the food court! I know that the owner makes everything from scratch. From the soups to the soondae (Korean sausage), and even the breadcrumbs. If you enjoyed a meal here for less than $20, the least you can do is give 5 stars to support this small business. That's the least you can do if you're a decent person. To the owner: Please keep up the great work! I want this restaurant to thrive for years to come!

I always enjoy their Katsu which is one of the best in the area. And I tried a miso ramen first time today and it was awful. (same opinion from my partner) The lady recommended the miso among other options. I think she should reconsider her choice for customers. (She was not friendly when asked her to recommend.) And a trivial point I disappointed was that they got me a metal spoon. Once I got it, I lowered my expectations for the ramen. I wouldn’t finish if I was not starving.

We had the Busan Pork Gukbap and Soondae Gukbap and both were meh. Positive was the generous portion of pork, soondae (Korean blood sausage), and various organ meats in the soup. The meats were good. Also, the kkadugi (cubed radish kimchi) side dish was good. Negative was the soup base which lacked that umami flavour even with adding the shrimp and salt seasoning. Something was off about the soup.

Located in the food court, this restaurant is a good option for delicious Korean food. Some good options are original tomkatsu and sweet potato cheese, but there are other very good options. The atmosphere is like a food court, without table service, but it's worth it!

HIDDEN GEM ALERT: @menkatsu_markham Same owner as the once highly rated Ramen restaurant downtown called Tokyo Ramen. Owner Chef Peter, one of the kindest and funniest people I've met within my food content days. Ramen: Top tier and affordable!? WHAT! The pork was super flavourful, the broth was next level and so rich, and did say the price is very affordable compared to some ramen shops? Sweet potato Katsu: OMG why didn't we try this earlier. The addition of sweet potato is genius. This is a must try! I've never had this anywhere else. shopsonyonge food court has some of the best, bang for your buck, comfort food in the GTA. So many amazing local restaurants serving up quality food.

We love this food court and this is our favourite place to order from. Their food tastes pretty authentic and is a great spot for their cold noodles, stews and tonkatsu~ We’ve come here on multiple occasions and they never disappoint. They have a busan sundae gukbap that’s really yummy too, perfect for the colder seasons or any season really.

*순대국밥 최고에요 This restaurant has one of the most authentic pork bone soup which is only in southern part of South Korea. He also brought the real Korean style cheese donkatsu here for a very generous price in my opinion. Great place to try real Korean food!
