Matsuda Japanese BBQ Grill on Sheppard is a great spot for a fun and satisfying dining experience. The restaurant was bustling when we visited, with a diverse crowd that added to the lively atmosphere. Despite the busy setting, the service was excellent—attentive, efficient, and friendly. The staff made sure orders were delivered quickly and that we were well taken care of throughout our meal. The menu offered a wide variety of options, with plenty of meats and seafood to choose from. Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful, and grilling the food at our table made the experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re in the mood for beef, pork, chicken, or seafood, there’s something for everyone, and it’s easy to customize the meal to your preferences. On top of the BBQ selections, the restaurant also offers a choice of one dessert per person, which was a nice way to finish off the meal. They also have a large selection of drinks, although those are paid for separately. Been to other Matsuda locations, first time at this one. Let's start with the good. Sashimi is fresh, served quickly, cut thick, and presented well. The food for grilling was also high quality. I especially liked the scallops. Staff was polite and service was prompt. With that said, it is time for the bad. Food selection is lacking. They don't even have tempura. I have never been to a Japanese ayce without tempura. Desserts are also not unlimited. There is icecream and icecream bar. You can only have one or the other. So beef and fish is ayce, but they draw the line at icecream???? And tea is extra too, so you only get water for free. For $60 per person after tax and tips, they sure like to be cheap to their customers. Mandatory 15% gratuity by the way. I also felt pretty rushed. The 2 hours dining limit is strictly enforced. There wasn't anyone waiting for a table. Overall not bad, but probably won't be back. Too many better options

Amazing food quality! I like sashimi and barbecue. I can enjoy both at one place!The phenomenal environment with visible sushi bar elevated the taste of food! Servers are all nice to clean the empty plate! Definitely recommend this place!

First time here yesterday. Great service, $48 AYCE BBQ/Shrimp. 2 hour seating limit, which is more than enough. Well marbled food, VERY quick to deliver food to table after ordering on your phone, and they also regularly replace the cooking grate without even having to ask them. Will definitely return. Thank you!

Good food. A little bit pricey. Scallops were good but just like the fish, it sticked on the shell (as a container for grilling) when it was cooked. Meats were good. Just don’t like the peppered steak strips, too tough. Thin slice beef, again too easy to stick on the grill. And they ran out of Malona bars. So only ice-cream available 🥲

Compare with other grills restaurant in the area, Matsuda got my souls. The prices are competitive and the food quality is above great. I love thier shrimps and short rips 🥰🥰🥰

Tasty and delicious. I came here every Friday to enjoy with my friends and my family. My favourite grill house restaurant ever. Fresh meat, fresh sashimi. Tasty bibimbap. Miso also good soup to try. Great service, they always there whenever we need them. I would like to recommend everybody should try this restaurant.
