Late night dinner in uptown markham. Not too many choices past 9 to be honest. But thankfully there's mabu generation. Having braised pork belly at that time of the day. Oh welps, it was fking bomb though. Also got the black peppercorn chicken with rice. If you guys ever need a late night option in markham. Check this place out!

This place is open late and has a nice vibe. The service was great and food was tasty. We got the popcorn chicken, minced beef, and a hotpot dish. Lots of parking during the night, gets busy during the day since it is part of a huge plaza containing other restaurants and stores.

The menu had many options, including rice, noodles, sizzling plates, and individual hot pots, as well as apps, drinks, and dessert. They even have a selection of kids' meals options that come with dessert and a (very) small drink. Everything was pretty decent. Seating is comfortable with many booths, and the decor was cute (a retro vibe with neon signs and other older furnishings and decor). We had an earlier dinner so there weren't too many people, and we were seated and got our meals fairly quickly.

Nov 20, 2024 We were craving a good mini hotpot and Taiwanese popcorn chicken and Mabu Generation delivered with flying colours. The food has been consistently awesome every time we visit. The Snow Pear Osmanthus Tea was a good fragrant tea. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken was awesome. Would definitely recommend. The Cheese Garlic Roasted Meatball with bolognese spaghetti was delicious and flavourful. Sukiyaki Hot Pot with Udon was awesome. The broth was flavourful and savoury. It added great flavour to the beef slices, assortment of meat balls, crab sticks, tofu and veggies. The portions of meat and veggies for this mini hot pot is generous :) Would definitely recommend. __ Sept 2024 Taiwanese food that is consistently delicious with service that is quick. It’s our go to place if we are craving a good Taiwanese popcorn chicken, Taiwanese style BBQ sausage & mince pork rice bowl or mini hot pot. Taiwanese popcorn chicken is awesome. A perfect combo of crispiness and tender chicken on the inside. Would definitely recommend. Taiwanese style BBQ sausage & mince pork rice bowl was good. They give you a hefty portion of rice. Cheese Garlic Roasted Meatball with bolognese spaghetti was awesome. The meatball was super delicious and seasoned well. The spaghetti was perfectly cooked and the bolognese sauce was delicious.

Food is amazing and service is very quick! I had no wait to get a table and someone was by almost immediately with water and cutlery. I ordered the creamy potato and curry udon with shrimp tempura and it was hot, fresh, and delicious! I also got a mango honey cube toast for myself and my husband to celebrate his birthday and the staff added a little happy birthday decal to the top of the dessert! Overall a great experience, will be back for sure!

The atmosphere is lively, they have a big selection of food. To be completely honest the service is good food came on time, they were very polite. The food was just a tad bit mid BUT it wasn’t bad. The beef ribs were just really chewy, my beef hot plate with cheese was good. Overall for late night eats spot a solid 8.5

The concept intrigues, and the atmosphere is indeed a fun one so it suits a group/social vibe very well. The food on the other hand is alright. We all enjoyed what we ordered but I wouldn't say any of the dishes impressed. The taste is not consistent from visit-to-visit, and in my opinion, some dishes are more worth ordering than others. For example, if you have access to/can make at home a good meat and preserved vegetable rice dish, skip it at Mabu because their version of it is only ok (leaves something to be desired. The flavour is two-dimensional at best). You're better off ordering such traditional dishes elsewhere. The udon noodles were a 5/10, the flavour had an instant ramen quality and the noodles themselves were plainly average in texture. Other funky items, which can be found throughout the menu, and the personal hot pot dishes as well are probably better executed. And, the novelty would, I think, offer a better experience. I recommend this restaurant for the atmosphere, especially if you're seeking out a social setting for dinner. Be mindful of your expectations with the food and what you order. The service was alright. We would've appreciated all of the food being brought out within a closer time interval. The first dish arrived nearly 10 minutes before the second. Then from there the fifth and last one came still later.
