I’ve been going here every Christmas season for the past three years. The decorations and ambiance are perfect. And the food is delicious! Many tasty options to share. And the Grinch holiday beverage is perfection

Came here for dinner with my parents and the vibes were great! The entire restaurant is decked out in holiday decor and although the food came out a little slow, it was worth the wait. Our favourites of the night were the grilled jumbo black tiger shrimp satay, Indonesian fried rice, braised short ribs and black tiger shrimp coconut curry. Make sure you book well in advance as this place is quite small and fills up pretty quickly!

Decent Indonesian fare, but not sure if this place did it justice. Fried rice/nasi goreng uses really al dente basmati rice which could be unusual for a lot of folks. Good flavor though. Smokiness came through from the wok. Short rib had a deep dark gravy that you can keep coming back for without getting sick of it. Would generally recommend to go here!

I like their space - there’s two floors and we sat in the upper floor. The vibe and decor feel comfortable and intimate. One point to improve on is cleanliness - their menus had visible small chunks of food caked on them. The food was pretty good for the most part. Really liked their lamb and chicken skewers. The peanut sauce for the chicken skewers was delicious and had the perfect hint of spiciness for me. The lamb had a nice texture with the coconut and a bit of sweetness to it, which I liked. The nasi goreng fried rice was fine - don’t remember it standing out too much. Their brussels sprouts were flavourful, and quite sweet from what I remember but not overwhelming. The flank steak was also fine. The amount of food we got for two was more than enough to be filling and was still able to take some of it to go. The biggest letdown of our visit was the service. Apparently they were not expecting to open up the second floor and they were understaffed, both with their servers and the bar (which just had one person). This caused significant wait times in between servings and getting attention to our table. It’s not a respectful use of time and doesn’t provide a good first impression in terms of guest expereince.

It seems they recently started offering brunch on weekends. We walked in and were pleasantly surprised. Their brunch menu is a fusion between their normal menu and traditional brunch items. Food was great. I highly recommend the Sumatra Spiced Beef Croquettes which is on their normal menu but also offered for brunch.

Little Sister does not disappoint. We used to go to their first restó at Yonge, years ago and it was our first time in Portland. Food quality is the same. Delicious, flavourful and eye widening yummy! We tried their Summerlicious menu and my favourites from the top are: Pork Slaw - I didn’t expect this to taste so good. Layers of flavours, sweet, a little sourness, a bit of soy sauce salty, a tiny bit spicy and the after taste of Southeast Asian herbs. It packs a punch of flavour. I can eat this dish all day. Next was the salmon on a rice puff biscuit. Flavourful too and just as delicious but it would be my 2nd. Third was the Brussels sprouts. This was cooked so well, the sweetness and the sourness of the tamarind was just a tad but it blended so well with the rest of the flavours they used. Winner too! Fourth was the flank steak, it had layers of all interesting and exciting flavours. It was sooo good! The prawn kari (curry) was so so. I’ve tasted far better Indonesian curries in Asia. It lacked the deep curry flavour but they were generous with 6 big tiger prawns in the kari. For dessert, the pineapple cake was ok. Maybe I will try their custard next time. Their coffee ce cream was quite delicious. The coffee was strong, so perfect. Interiors were fabulous. For a small space, they did it very well. Congratulations to the team who designed this. Overall, this is definitely a restaurant I would recommend.

The place is a cute restaurant with a very cozy vibe. They do have a patio and can host private events as well. Definitely make a reservation. Went here for dinner, and had - Indonesian fried rice, brussel sprouts salad, spring rolls and pork steak. I am vegetarian and was hoping to have gado gado - an Indonesian dish i love, but i understand if they wanted to steer away from something everything Indonesian restaurant wants to serve. The rice was a good portion - not a side serving. The brussel sprouts were texturally great but needed additional sauce on the side, which i did mention to the staff and they said they could 'order' it for me. Imo if a dish is lacking taste, i shudnt have to order a sauce to make it right, it shud be brought to me. The pork sauce was great and the spring rolls were good. Nothing jumped out to us food wise at $50pp However our bartender was great and attentive. Wouldn't really recommend, but wouldn't say never go there.

FOOD: good food, decent portion • Lumpia: 2 big lumpia and it taste so good. The tamarind sauce is also amazing. • Satay Udang: the shrimp is huge, glazing is the best. I love that it comes with some mango and cabbage slices like a small little salad. • Nasi Goreng: fried rice with a bit of veggies, very flavorful. Rice has good texture and not dry. • Terong Belado: i'm very interested with this. It's something different, bursting flavor and slightly spicy. Eggplant has a very juicy text and goes perfectly well with the sauce. • Sapi Bakar: slightly burnt, however it's still tender and not dried out. DRINKS: • It's All Gone Peach Tong: it's so refreshing, sweet and easy to drink. • Midnight Moon: this one is also fun to drink and taste good. Service: there're only 1 bartender and 1 waiter. The bartender guy is very chill and friendly. Food is a little slow in the beginning but got better later on. VIBE: quite empty around dinner time but got busier later. There's a speakeasy in the basement but doesn't open very often.
