We ordered 4 dishes: Ayam Kremes, Sate Padang, Soto Betawi, and Sate Ayam. Love all of them, but our favourite is Sate Ayam. Rendang meat is si soft and would melted in your mouth. I wished they provided additional sambal as a side because some of us like it extra spicy 😆. Good pricing. The ambiance is comfortable. Little Jakarta is not easily found because it shares the space with another restaurant, Big Beef Bowl. We will come back again.

We tried nasi goreng, nasi padang, soto betawi, ayam kremes, and mie goreng. My personal favorite is ayam kremes! Their sambal is on the sweeter side, but you can ask them to make it spicier if you like. Mie goreng tastes exactly like mie goreng tek-tek in Indonesia, and my husband loves it so much. Soto betawi was also good—probably the best soto betawi I’ve ever had (not exaggerating) 🤤 I really hope the owner can maintain the quality and get their own place soon; the place is too busy and too small for two food tenants.

Ordered the Laksa Betawi, Soto Betawi and Mie Goreng. The laksa below average and very oily. The Soto was better than the laksa but also oily. The protein in these 2 dishes was the same protein used for the Big Beef Bowl restaurant where this pop up is located in. The Mie Goreng was the best of the 3 dishes. The laksa from Les Chateaux Restaurant (which is located in the main plaza across the parking lot) and One2Snacks is better than here, less oily that I can drink the entire bowl and don't regret it. Service was very good though.

Authentic Indonesian food? In Markham? Heck yes! Little Jakarta is operating inside the very busy Big Beef Bowl as a pop-up but you have to ask for their menu. We ordered their Sate Betawi (Curry Soup with Beef), Sate Agam (Chicken Satay), and Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice). Every dish was so flavourful! The curry soup was a great opener, full of flavour, with tender chunks of beef and potatoes. The shrimp chips in the soup were soggy and seemed a bit out of place, although we ate it all. The skewered and grilled chicken satay was so tender and flavourful, with a very nice peanut sauce. Nasi Goreng, a spicy fried rice with chicken and shrimps, topped with a sunny side fried egg, was absolutely delicious. There were also some crispy shrimp chips and pickled vegetables on the side, all good. Service was very efficient but understandably not very friendly since they were so busy servicing customers, resetting tables, and seating new customers. Check them out. I'll definitely be back!

I'm from Indonesia, and I can confidently say that Little Jakarta serves the most authentic Indonesian famous dishes in the Toronto area. They give a generous portion of flavourful, spicy food with a very reasonable price! So far, my favorite is their Nasi Padang. The dish comes with a soft, tender beef that's covered by a generous amount of spicy curry sauce. I'm especially surprised by how tasty their eggplant Balado dish is, which is pretty hard to find in Canada. This is a spicy dish, but it's not unpleasant nor difficult to eat. Little Jakarta shares the same space as Big Beef Bowl. You might have to ask the waiter for the menu for Little Jakarta.

Food is excellent and its wonderful flavors remind me of Bali! We got the satay skewers and laksa, both were so yummy. The satay especially had a sweet and savory peanut sauce that I felt like I couldn't get enough of. I almost wish this place would stay a hidden gem, but would love to see more people visit and try their foods so I can hopefully one day see an expanded menu. We dropped in as a party of 2 and did not require a reservation, but they did say if you have a larger party it's better to call in advance to make sure they can be prepared to serve you. This place is located in Big Beef Bowl - just ask for the Little Jakarta menu in case they don't offer it to you up front.

It's legit, ONE guy with allocated space in the back of the kitchen at Big Beef Bowl Noodle. From reading reviews, I noticed a lot of ppl were saying that you had to call in and make a res specifically notifying them that you wanted the jakarta menu. My group of 8 made a res and stopped by on a saturday night. We ordered pretty much the whole menu (except the nasi uduk betawi). The food was great! Packed with tons of the flavour and the coconut rice was fragant. While the soto betawi was very gingery and homey, the curry's consistency was more of a thai-based curry consistency and more on the watery side. I think I prefer the consistency of indian or chinese curry almost resembling like a thick gravy. The spicy eggplants that come with the padang is unique. I haven't seen much spicy eggplant when I go out for indonesian food. The laksa had the strong funk of fish sauce which was interesting. Oh yea, the satays also come with peanut sauce and it was not only nutty and sweet but also a lil spicy with some heat! Quite unusual for a peanut sauce but I enjoyed it. Keeping the price at $15 a piece for every dish on the Jakarta menu was a very smart decision. I was able to overlook the longer than normal cook time for food because of said price and also because like I mentioned above, it's a one man operation. One of my friends joked that he thought the chef should just buy out the unit from the Big Beef Bowl owner.

Heard many great things about this little pop up inside Big Beef Bowl. Came as a group of 8, 4 Indonesians and 4 Chinese, and we ordered one of each item on the menu. Definitely one of the more authentic Indonesian restaurants in the GTA!
