King Solomon and Queen of Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant is a new restaurant in Toronto opened more than 6 months ago.

Ethiopian food is one of the most exciting cuisines in the world. Not only is the food extremely unique and extraordinarily flavorful, but the food culture that makes up Ethiopia is also something I found truly fascinating. To begin with, Ethiopian food is eaten with friends and family. Even the way Ethiopian food is served, on a communal platter, is designed for sharing food with each other. Food is not meant to be eaten alone in the culture of Ethiopia. Feeding someone a bite of food is seen as a very respectable or loving thing to do. I often saw couples tearing off pieces of injera, scooping up the best bites of delicious stew, and proceeding to feed it to their loved ones, a practice I soon learned is called gursha.

We live in the west end and have been to a couple of Ethiopian restaurants. The food in the west is much better than what we ate here. The quantity of food too was far less than what we have eaten elsewhere, I am tiny and asked for more food (platter specifically). They didn’t allow substitutions in the meat platter. It’s beef and lamb only both of which we don’t eat. The veggie platter was two lentils, two gravies (not sure what they were) and 1 vegetable dish. Service was very polite.

We shared a vegetarian platter and mixed meat platter for 4 people and got an additional serving of the injera. It was delicious and I'm so glad we got to try a wide variety of things! 4/5

Avoid this place! First, it’s an unclean restaurant, and the patio was crawling with flies and bugs. The plastic flowers don’t hide the any smell. The veg food is just edible, at best. However the meats are just awful. Overcooked that you can chew but can’t swallow, and very low quality. Probably expired as hardly anyone was there on a weekend. Ratings are clearly not legitimate. Many alternatives available nearby.

We had the vegetarian platter and the lamb tibs in chef special hot sauce. It was delicious ! Nice variety of flavours, and generous portion. The waitress was very kind and helpful. She also made good recommendations.

Excellent young woman served us the quiet Wednesday evening we visited. The veggie platter was fine, perfect amount of food, not too much, and the meat platter was good according to my companion. The place was unassuming, felt authentic.

My experience at this establishment was exceptional! It was exceptional because of the food and service. For food, my sisters and I each got a vegetarian platter! All the dishes on the platter were incredibly delicious and flavorful!!! In terms of service, it has been the best one since I’ve been in Toronto. The staff member was very attentive and checked on us more than once. She refilled our waters and gave us more hit water for tea and was just all around fantastic!!! I have nothing but good things to say about this establishment!!! :)

We love Ethiopian food and we enjoyed our first visit in this place! The decor, the music, the smells, the colours all was so authentic! The service was great, fast and we loved that we got recommendations. The food was so good and enjoyable, definitely planning to go back! Very much recommended!

This restaurant changed my view on Ethiopian cuisine to be honest. I love their menu and the bread was super fresh and delicious. We tried meat and veggie options, and both did not disappoint. We also had the coffee ceremony which was lovely on a Sunday afternoon. We went during a off-peak hour so service was fairly fast. I would love to know where to get those incense that comes with the coffee ceremony!
