Kibo Sushi house - Sheppard E is a new restaurant in Toronto opened more than 6 months ago.

At Kibo, we believe the term hope can answer all life’s problems. From what to eat to where to eat at, Hope is your answer. Derived our name from the Japanese interpretation of Hope (希望 kibō), Kibo Sushi House was born simply because we believe greatly in hope. Hope - in the sense that if you work hard, you will always be rewarded one way or another. As we embed this belief into our restaurant, from selecting fresh, local ingredients; to cooking them with love and serving them to your table with our bright smiles; we hope that you enjoy and appreciate all that we put into your favourite dishes.

I ordered the Love Boat for Two and the Sunny Dragon from Kibo Sushi on New Year’s Eve via Uber Eats. The Love Boat included 2 miso soups, 2 salads, edamame, mixed tempura, and a variety of sushi and sashimi. It took about an hour to receive the order, which was reasonable, especially on a busy night like New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was below average this time. I’ve ordered the same items before, and they were much better in the past. The fried shrimp tempura was extremely greasy and had a heavy oil taste, making it unpleasant to eat. It felt like they were pre-fried in large batches and reused rather than being freshly made. The sashimi didn’t taste as fresh as it used to from other Kibo locations, which was disappointing. I’m not sure if I’ll be ordering from this location again. The experience this time didn’t live up to the expectations I’ve come to associate with Kibo Sushi.

The food is always good and fresh. Personal favourite is the Crazy Cali!! Loveee it. The service is also amazing, the nice young lady named Becky is always smiling and happy to serve, I love her energy! Never had a bad experience here, only the best!

It's a smaller location but with a good amount of seating for small groups. It was clean and had kind service. Love the Kobi chain and happy to see one in Scarborough. Down side to the plaza is paid parking.

Really bad nigiri... fish is paper thin. It was even more disappointing compared to what I expected from the photo. I will say the California roll is good here. I ordered the rainbow California and won't do that again. Dynamite is dry.

It’s my fourth time visiting the place and it never disappoints. Excellent customer service, delicious food- the honey garlic karage is a must appetizer my girls love it. Nice selection of sashimi and sushi’s so good. Very peaceful ambiance with K-pop music which my teenagers love. Definitely will be coming back again.

Horrible service. I ordered the Golden Dragon, which has both salmon and eel on the top. After eating a couple pieces, I noticed the roll was missing the eel. I clarified with the waitress, Emma (or Enma? Couldn't catch it very well), and she verified that it should have both salmon and eel, but went to the back to verify with the chef. They argued that they put the eel in the first couple pieces I ate, while the salmon would be in the other half. She offered to add the eel to the rest of the rolls, and I agreed. When she came back, she said the chef was adamant that the first preparation was right, to which she agreed and told me that I "must have been confused", but she gave me a small sliver of eel on the side as consolation. I thanked her for her efforts, not wanting to bother her anymore. A couple minutes later, I overhear her telling another customer that "customers were being very difficult". Throughout the whole 30+ minutes of us waiting for our food, I never heard anyone else complain (and the restaurant was quite empty), so I assume she was referring to me. I find it so odd that it's so difficult for them to just add salmon and eel on top in the first place? Why bother with the 70/30 weird ratio? I felt quite ridiculed by the service, would not recommend the Golden Dragon at the very least. Edit: Interesting response from the restaurant. The roll was, at the very least advertised on their menu, to have BOTH salmon and eel on top on ALL pieces, not 4 pieces having salmon and 2 having eel. Take their response as a show of their customer service...

We were there on a Saturday around 6pm. It got busy as we placed our order, but we didn't wait long for our food. The agedashi tofu is THE BEST we've ever had. It is so chewy, soft, and delicious. I would go back just for that dish alone. The sushi is great, and the chicken karaage is also yummy - I don't know what's in the sauce but it's fantastic! The only thing I wish was better was the salmon in my bento box - it was dry. Still giving them a 5 star, because the service was great and the food is worth the price! If you pay with cash, you get 10% off! We will definitely be back here!
