Ever so close to a perfect experience, if not only for an isolated circumstance that happened during our time eating there. I love the concept of this Japanese fusion restaurant. They have fun, interestingly crafted meals. Two of which we had ordered are the Carbonara Udon $17.50 and the Brick Cheese Katsu $22.90. The meals are not only cool and exciting, but the taste of the food can also properly back up the gimmick. The Carbonara Udon has creamy carbonara sauce and comes with 2 tempura pieces. For the Brick Cheese Katsu, I ordered the Gold & Silver Katsu to be able to sample both the Cheddar cheese wrapped inside the pork loin (Gold Katsu), as well as the Mozzarella cheese which is the Silver Katsu. It is a great combination of hot, fried food with a cheesy, creamy filling. Service was honestly a mixed bag. On many occasions, we found ourselves having trouble getting the waiters' attention because the staff are situated at the far back of the narrow restaurant. It was a good thing thay the staff are very courteous. They attended to and took care of an isolated request we had during the time we were there. The menu may be a bit more pricey compared to other similar establishments. Almost all of the meals start off at the $20 range.

I had a specific craving for creamy udon and the Carbonara Udon satisfied that! Udon noodles were perfectly tender and carbonara was creamy, not too heavy. Karage was crispy, yet juicy and comes with wasabi mayo on the side. Will come back to try katsu next time!

I've been here on and off throughout the years and the katsu is still very delicious, consistent, and same portions. This location is probably one of the least crowded for dine-in, with most of the traffic going to takeout orders. The whole front of restaurant is serviced by 1 worker, who takes orders, delivers dine-in and takeout orders, and does the cash register. The dine-in service is a bit slower, but not bad since they make katsu fresh. Note that they only allow for 1 refill of rice.

The best Tonkatsu in Toronto. 🍤🍱 We enjoyed the appetizers, which are Takoyaki and Chicker Karake. The food was amazingly delicious. Also, the Carbonara udon was so great. The thick udon and the carbonara sauce were great together. It served with shrimp tempura, which was very crispy. Moreover, we are impressed with the service and the cleanliness of this restaurant. They gave the welcome drink to the kid, and they served Miso soup for free. It's totally recommended. 👌

I came here for lunch with my family. We came here on a holiday, Victoria Day, so it was quiet. We didn't have to wait to be seated. The portion sizes were generous for the price, so definitely come here if you are hungry. As for the food, we ordered: - takoyaki - honey fries - teriyaki mayo chicken katsu - supreme original pork katsu - original pork katsu Overall, the food tasted great. I enjoyed it and so did my family. When it comes to the location itself, the tables were a decent size for the large plates, and the seating was comfortable. I will say though, the table was a bit sticky, so I avoided putting my hands on the table. When it comes to the washrooms, they are quite small and tightly packed together. Also, their soap dispenser was out of order, so hopefully they fix that soon.

This is my first time visiting this Katsuya location. Since I’ve been to their NY/DT location I have no hesitation in recommending this place to my friend and decided to give it a try together. And our overall experience was terrible. First of all, I’ve never seen a restaurant table sticky like that. It feels oily and really dirty. We asked for the server to clean the table which she did, and we as a customer had to use our wet tissue to clean it again and again STILL DIRTY. Second, the food was disappointing as well. We ordered the katsu udon, it was tasteless. The soup base was not seasoned at all. The tempura shred in the soup was terrible, fish cakes, carb meats, tasted nothing like they should have tasted. And yes it’s a $20 Udon, we felt being ripped off. Miso soup was a joke, it was just water plus salt, where is exactly the miso???? Last, we had a bad stomachache once we got home. I think because we both tried the Udon I am personally really really really concerned about the safety of the food in this place. Will not be back again.

I brought my family here to try this chain. Good value for the portions, consistent with the other locations in the GTA. Made fresh to order, the Katsu is fresh and crispy. The waitress didn't give us much time to look at the menu and asked us 3 times without the first 20 minutes. Also, the booths were a little bit uncomfortable for my father who has long legs - they only have booth seating. Overall good experience
