Went for lunch. Place was deserted. Really old inside, needs upgrading. Ordered 3 items, and food came out very speedy. Like it was microwaved because we heard zero wok noises. Fried rice was still a bit cold, and we ordered beef in black bean sauce. Asked if it came w white rice, and the owner said yes. We got the beef, and the plate was loaded with broccoli. We never ordered beef and broccoli but beef in black bean sauce. Anyways we ate. Asked for the bill noticed we got charged for the white rice and it was practally one ladel of rice topped with green onion and that was $5. I didn't make a fuss. Paid the bill and left. That was my first visit to this establishment and will be my last. The food was priced like any other Chinese food places and the potions were on the smaller side.

Would not recommend or return to this restaurant again. The food was stale(maybe leftovers from previous day?) and cold. Over kill with ketchup on dried chicken to cover for lack of bbq sauce. Billed double for drinks. Had to make a pit stop at closest fast food restaurant to relieved my nauseous stomach. I gave one star which is being generous of me

It was my first time trying Kalypso Hut and the food was good. The service was quick when it came time to pick up my food. The only downside to my experience was that the rice smelled and tasted burnt and the barbecue chicken had more of a sweet ketchup taste rather than a bold barbecue flavour. Other than that, the chow mein was really tender and flavourful. The chicken was soft, juicy and nice. I would come back to have the chow mein and chicken again, and I would try other food items on the menu.

Paid $18 for fry rice $15 for pepper shrimp Fryrice with chicken was a ripoff. Smallest chicken I have seen on fry rice in all the restaurants I have visited. Chicken was hard couldn't chew it. Pepper shrimp was not pepper shrimp and and taste was not there. For what you are charging for food please xome better.

We got a hotel room down the street at the courtyard hotel and it was about 7PM on Thursday night. We went here because Google said it was Caribbean food. It was no such thing. The food is Chinese food with a "Guyanese" twist. Unfortunately it was just American-Chinese food. And it was really bad American-Chinese Food at that. I got a combo with rice noodles and chicken. The Rice was completely inedible, it tasted like burnt Ash. The chicken was not great. The sauce that was used was just straight up Ketchup. The only thing that was palatable on the plate was the noodles, Unfortunately they had fragments of chicken bone throughout. Me and the other person with me both picked out 3 or 4 bone piece each. Not only was the food not great, but between the restaurant being run down and having visible water damage on the ceiling and Christmas decorations up (March). The restaurant was also completely devoid of any other customers. The only people who came in were friends of the waitress and just stood around talking for 30 minutes. But the thing that instilled the least amount of confidence was the fact the restaurant is called "Kalypso" hut with a K but the menu spelled "Calypso" special with a C. It's like this restaurant doesn't know what it wants to be. This was without doubt the worst Restaurant experience i have found in the Greater Toronto Area.

I’ve dined at this restaurant and the food is always delicious. The pepper sauce has a special flavour to it that goes with the food. Service and staff are good, and so are prices. Owner is friendly and cares about the service his customers receive. The menu has a variety of dishes to choose from. They offer a variety of snacks that are considered Guyanese favourites. The setting is a kind of mix between a restaurant and a bar so the music can tend to be too loud sometimes if you’re just there to have a meal; however, the staff and owner is bound to make your visit an enjoyable one, so be sure to let them know if something is making you uncomfortable.

Nice people, food was really good, flavors are really well developed, vegetable were nice and fresh, not overcooked. The wonton soup had a really nice, deep, fresh earthy flavor, fried wontons were perfectly prepared, not undercooked or over seasoned, and the house special mixed fried rice was absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, and savory. Definitely will return next time I'm spending an evening in town. Great job.
