Joni Restaurant

Wow wow wow! This dining room is absolutely stunning. We sat by the fireplace in a dining room with gorgeous finishes, tall ceilings adorned with Christmas decorations and pretty lights. The menu offered a wide variety of local options. The dishes we ordered (beet Waldorf salad, beeswax poached lobster tail, duck l'orange, halibut) were all beautifully presented and delicious. The experience was complete with warm service.

Pretty disappointed with the experience here based on what my expectations would have been with the Park Hyatt. Came in for a Saturday brunch reservation, and had the impression that the lady at the hostess stand was quite disorganized. Was told when we got there that we had to wait for our table to be ready, so we waited for about 10 min in the lobby. We noticed there were several two-top tables in the back of the restaurant that were already ready. When she called us over, sure enough she showed us to one of those same tables that was already good from when we got there. She also brought us over to our table with just one menu for the two of us instead of two. Then she brought over an additional menu that was very clearly stained across the page. Had the smoked salmon crepe - The crepe was thick and gummy. Not at all the consistency it should have been. The dish overall was also overly salty. I let our server know and she was kind enough to remove it from our bill and provide me with some fruits instead. She was pretty attentive and checked in with us often enough throughout our stay. It’s a nice enough dining room to have brunch in, but surprised at how bad quality standards can be here at their restaurant.

We were seated at a smaller table, which felt uncomfortably close to our neighbors, making it hard to ignore their conversation. On the positive side, our server was attentive, and the food was excellent. However, the price was a bit steep. We ordered an appetizer, a main course, and a prix fixe menu, which totaled $150. Despite the high cost, the overall experience at Joni was enjoyable.

Joni is the place to go for elegant fine dining. We had a wonderful girls night out at Joni. Each item in the $95 Chefs Tasting Menu was beautiful and delicious — and very filling. The restaurant itself was very elegant with a pianist playing music and fireplaces. Our server Kaustubh was very professional and made the evening even more special. We also loved that he provided us with boxed butter tarts to take home.

We tried the tasting menu and found it to be flavourless, which was disappointing. Some of the dishes were too cold to finish. I can appreciate the freshness of the food, but this was too much. We didn't enjoy the combination of flavours in some of the dishes, such as the appetizers - foie gras with chocolate mousse and berry sauce. It had a confusing mix of creamy, bitter, and sour flavours. The only two courses we enjoyed were the brioche, which had a fluffy texture and melted in our mouths. The smell was full of buttery goodness. The other dish we liked was the crispy duck breast, which amazed me with its combination of crispy skin and soft meat. Overall, the server was friendly, but the waiting time was a bit long. Next time, I think we'll try the regular menu instead of the tasting menu.

Came here for an anniversary dinner recently and had a wonderful experience. Overall, the service was incredible. All of the people involved were extremely kind and attentive, our host Mohammad Rahman Jr. was very kind and professional and was a joy to talk to! The Chef's experience was delicious and the dishes were extremely well paired with the wines (which were quite distinctly different tasting!). Would very much visit again.

We popped in for a dessert and ended up ordering a high tea service — personally the savoury starters were absolutely delicious. Each bite was a hit! The mix of flavours and textures was interesting and kept our palettes intrigued. The dessert options were also interesting and very unique. Although we were full we did take a bite of each dessert, the presentation of the desserts were something to really admire. The tea was also very flavourful and the menu provided some good options for pairings. They brought an hour glass that let us know our tea was done steeping, a little detail that was such a nice touch.
