John & Sons Oyster House is a new restaurant in Toronto opened more than 6 months ago.
John & Sons Oyster House is not trying to be eagerly trendy or particularly fancy, but frankly, we'd rather not be. Located in downtown Toronto, Ontario we offer a warm, east coast welcome and hope you stay for a while. We offer the freshest oysters and seafood, prepared with love and passion. Today, everywhere you look you see over-hyped restaurants that are pushing the next food fad. But us, we’re about being timeless, about staying classic, and we plan to keep going by making sure our passion and honesty is part of our hospitality. Always. This brings us our devoted friends, not just people looking for a popular hangout. The way to truly enjoy yourself is to bring a few companions, just let go and eat, drink and talk.

The seafood here is fresh and enjoyable. Overall, food is good quality and the oysters really hit the spot. Some of the portions are quite small, such as the octopus. The lobster rolls here are quite nice as well. I appreciated the service and the ambiance was very relaxing. A nice restaurant/bar visit in Toronto!

Two of us went there after work. Had some beers, appetizers and main course. The oyster selection were east coast only. I tried a few, they were fresh and shucked well. Dinner was good but not spectacular. Service was friendly and efficient.

Found this place on google, wasn’t sure if it will be up to my expectations but it exceeded by far. Amazing, exceptional, extraordinary are few of the words that can describe this place. Starting with warm welcome from the bartenders RYAN & CHRIS to the extraordinary service and the outstanding food we got. Oysters are chugged right in front of you on the bar with many options to choose from, Octopus was wonderful within a flavorful mix Smelts are different but the seafood linguine was wow the pasta was aldente and super flavorful now I’m back again for more oysters and other choices Ashley and Seron are or bartenders for tonight and they are wonderful Definitely coming back if we ever visit Toronto in the future DONT MISSOUT ON THIS SPOT

Great little restaurant/bar tucked away in a small side street. The servers were amazing and very attentive and organized. They were able to describe and recommend menu items to try. We tried every available oyster they had which ranged from $2.50 to $5. The grilled octopus was tender and well cooked. Drinks selection were abundant for a variety of tastes. It can get very loud in the restaurant but adds to the coziness of this establishment.

Went out for dinner with my sister - sat at the bar and we felt very taken care of by the server and bartender. Fresh oysters shucked right in front of us and more complex dishes made in the kitchen. We ordered several appetizers and a steak to share and everything tasted fresh and of the highest quality. Would absolutely return again but will reserve for special occasions as it is a little pricey.

The best seafood I have ever had in Toronto especially if you love raw oysters. We had a group of 14 people for a wedding reception and pretty much tried everything on the menu and all of it was great and cooked to perfection. All the seafood we tried was fresh and excellent quality and even the salads served with it were delicious. The entire staff were incredibly friendly and the service was excellent. I know the bride and groom really appreciated everything the staff did to make it a special occasion. We will definitely go back.

Excellent dining experience. Went during off hours so no crowds. Everything was deliciously prepared. Service was excellent. Plentiful lobster meat in the lobster roll. Delicious octopus with nice size. Would definitely come again. As with anything, if the price isn’t written don’t be embarrassed to ask. Always enjoy Kumamoto Oysters but at $66 for a dozen maybe a bit on the pricey side but probably should be expected given where they are from and this being the financial district of Toronto.

I absolutely love this hidden gem in downtown Toronto. In my opinion, the lobster roll here is better than the one at St .Lawrence Marker. I love the oysters here as well. Make sure you reserve a spot otherwise it's hard to do walk-ins at busy hours (even on weekdays). This place is a little pricey and always packed with business people wearing suits, grabbing a drink on weekdays after work. I recommend sharing the lobster roll with your date (just ask them to cut it in half) as you can see from my picture they are quite a portion. If you want to save some appetite for oysters and other stuff, sharing is definitely a wise choice. The service here is good enough. The only problem is this place is always so busy that it might take long for you to grab their attention. If you want to add some oysters in the middle, you might have to wait 20+ minutes as there is likely a queue of oysters waiting to be opened until it's your turn. 😂
