I recently had the pleasure of doing take out at Jaffna Street Food, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The front staff, Akash and Venkat, were incredibly nice and kind. They both had smiles on their faces and genuinely looked happy to be there, which added a wonderful warmth to the atmosphere. The food was absolutely amazing—definitely a 10/10! I tried both the mutton bowl and the soya meat bowl, and they were delicious. Each side curry had its own unique flavor, and when mixed, it was an explosion of taste that was simply incredible - it’s unlimited so that was a bonus. Overall, Jaffna Street Food offers a fantastic experience with top-notch service! I’ll definitely be back!

I got the rice bowl with chicken devil, the spicy Jaffna fries, and the mango shake. The mango shake was a 10/10 and I highly recommend it! The Jaffna fries are solid and I would give it a 6/10. However, the rice bowl was mid. I would give it a 2/10 because there was not enough salt and flavour in the curries. I paid extra to add the chicken but there were only a few small pieces.

My visit to Jaffna Street Food was truly enjoyable, and I was proud to see their commitment to authentically representing Eelam Tamil culture and identity through their food and branding. I ordered the mutton rolls, mutton kothu roti, and a mango shake. The kothu roti was exceptional—perfectly balanced, neither too dry nor too soggy, and made extra spicy just as I requested. The portions were generous, and the prices were incredibly budget-friendly. Thank you for putting Eelam Tamil cuisine on the map! I’m looking forward to returning and trying more of your menu items!

Authentic Tamil street food that is tasty, filling, and affordable. I loved the mutton roll. The mutton string hopper kothu was good, but I'd get chicken instead of mutton next time as the mutton was a bit chewy. You can choose your spice level (regular or Jaffna spicy), but my fiancé and I found that regular was still pretty spicy. The chicken kothu roti and the Necto (a raspberry flavoured drink) were okay. I'll come back to try the paal appam. Counter service only. Friendly service. Seating is available in the food court. They offer a 10% discount for students and healthcare workers.

Mango Shake: 100/10 🔥 Mutton Rolls: 10/10 🔥 Jaffna Classic Mutton Poutine: 8/10 🔥 This is definitely a place you need to visit at least once! It offers great home-style Kari flavors. I can't describe it any better than that, so just go and try it out! The service is great and the atmosphere is awesome! My friends and I were blown away by the flavors as we were eating. It tasted so similar to our amma's cooking! ♡

Glad to have a casual Sri Lankan spot in the Grange. I got the Jaffna fries and they are some of the best I’ve had in the city. The mutton roll comes with the combo and is crisped perfectly. The kotthu roti was very flavourful, but wish there were some more veggies in there to give some variance in texture and colour. All in all, great option for a quick cheap, tasty lunch! Will definitely be back.

As a Tamil-Canadian working near the Grange, discovering Jaffna Street Food felt like a dream come true. The excitement of having authentic Tamil cuisine so close to my workplace was undeniable, and I’m thrilled to say that it exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment you walk up, you’re treated to a menu that is both delicious and affordable. They offer a wide range of Tamil classics, from the ever-popular kotthu roti to crispy rolls, and even sweet treats like wattalapam and refreshing mango shakes that evoke memories of Tamil weddings—if you know, you know! My go-to dish is their kotthu roti, and they certainly don’t skimp on the portions, especially when it comes to the protein. The generosity is much appreciated, and the flavors are authentic and rich. What truly convinced me of the authenticity was taking some food home to my Sri Lankan Tamil mother, who hails from Jaffna. Her approval speaks volumes, as it’s not easy to impress different generations with traditional dishes. Yet, Jaffna Street Food managed to do just that. The story behind the restaurant is inspiring, and the customer service is warm and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. In short, I highly recommend Jaffna Street Food. It’s not just the best Tamil food in downtown—it’s some of the best in the city.

Jaffna street food offers an authentic taste of Sri Lankan cuisine right in the heart of Toronto near St Patrick station. The flavours are spicy and delicious. We tried the rice mutton bowl which was simply delish and mutton rolls. However the date cakes were not fresh. The portions are generous and the prices are also reasonable for the quality you get. The staff is friendly and provides great service. Highly recommended for anyone craving spicy and flavorful food!
