Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse

My husband and I visited Jacob's in both December 2023 and December 2024. I didn't initially leave a rating in 2023 because I was unsure about their steak, but we decided to give it another try in 2024. In 2023, we had the beet salad, T-bone steak, and sides. In 2024, we tried the Caesar salad, Australian ribeye steak, Ontario-aged steak, and sides. Both times, I noticed that the steaks cooled off much quicker than expected, which was disappointing. I touched the hot stone they serve the steak on and found it wasn’t heated enough, so the steak didn’t stay warm for long. However, I really enjoyed the appetizer bread and Caesar salad, which were the highlights of our meal. The hosts and service were both excellent, which made the experience more enjoyable.

We planned a surprise weekend to Toronto for our son's 13th birthday. When searching for steakhouses with both oysters and wagyu, I stumbled upon Jacobs & Co. I was unfortunately unable to book a reservation online so decided to call and was fit right in! We took a Lyft from our hotel so cannot comment on parking but it looked like valet was an option. We were greeted by our server, Josh who was excellent from beginning to end. He was incredibly knowledgeable about everything on the menu and gave us his honest opinion on his favorite items and also items that weren't his favorite which we appreciated. We started with Oysters and the Jacobs Caesar. I personally do not eat Oysters but my son and husband really enjoyed them with the freshly grated horseradish. The Jacobs Caesar was delicious - loved watching it be made tableside and my son loved the anchovies. For dinner I chose the 8 oz tenderloin (Canada Prime Hereford X - Guelph, ON) which was cooked to perfection. The salts and sauces that come with the steaks were all delicious but the blue cheese mix was my favorite. My husband went with the 14 oz Ribeye (also from Guelph, ON and Aged 45 days) which he also enjoyed. The big hit was my son's 8 oz. A5 Japanese Miyazaki Prefecture Wagyu. The flavor was unreal - no sauce needed! It literally melts in your mouth. We only went with one side which was the potato gratin, which was delicious as well. Truly an incredible experience with top notch service. They made my son feel so special and he enjoyed every bit of it. Can't wait to go back!

Great food and atmosphere. Steak was pretty good, aged very well, tender and rich in taste. Few varieties of salt was offered on side went really well with the steak. Seabass was pretty good as well especially with the sauce came along with. Mushroom was okay, a bit overcooked and dry. Mediterranean salad was least of my favorites. They did emphasize that they offered salad very fresh but taste wise it was a bit disappointing. Last is, red wine in glass they only have four types, would be better if there is more variety.

First time at Jacobs celebrating my wife's birthday! It was a very memorable experience from booking the reservation to the last course. The restaurant was proactive in reaching out, confirming the reservation and providing details on the halal options that had been requested. The staff at the entrance was very friendly and made us felt very welcome. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu and took their time explaining the different options, specifically the house specials. There were numerous halal options including lamb, chicken and a significant variety of steak cuts were halal as well. We had the caesar salad as starter followed by individual steaks. Serving size was huge and we had enough to leftover as wanted to save some space for dinner. Definitely will be coming back!

We had a lot of fun at Jacobs. Everything was excellent. Our server Jamie was exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. The food was fantastic. The Wagyu steak in particular was some of the best I’ve ever had. The potato’s gratin and the Caesar salad were also terrific. The wine options were extensive and they had some great suggestions. I particularly enjoyed the Montrachet. We had a great table in the corner of the restaurant with lots of space. It was perfect for sharing food and lots of laughs. I will definitely be back to Jacobs.

Can I just say their popovers for starter were freaking amazing?! I need to know their recipe because they were absurdly large and crispy. I went there with my family. My dad especially was very pleased with their services and food. As a person who dislikes cold hard boiled seafood, their option of warm seafood that cooked with white wine and butter is god sent. Also they have smaller size of champagne which is very nice. Nobody should chuck a whole bottle just because it would taste bad the next day. This restaurant is definitely one of, if not the most high end and classic restaurant in Toronto

9/10 service - everything was great except our server forgot our drink order and forgot to bring our doggie bag. But our server did make a very nice suggestion with the steak choice and wine pairing. Nothing major, the rest of the staff were all on point. 8/10 food - not sure if we just ate too much red meat as that's not usually in our diet, but both our stomachs felt off after the meal. Not something you'd expect to feel after a pricey meal like that. But the food was really good, the Australian wagyu was 👌 Overall, it was a great experience!! I really enjoyed my time here ☺️ the homemade bread was sensational 😍

The service is definitely 10/10 here. Food is nothing extraordinary. It’s good but that’s expected with what you’re paying. The risotto is average but the potato gratin was delicious. Steaks and chicken are also good but nothing extravagant. The desserts are rich - we were a party of 4 and almost tried everything. The atmosphere inside needs improvement. Does not look super upscale inside.
