I had a fantastic experience at Island Hut Restaurant! The Guyanese chicken fried rice and chicken chowmein were absolutely delicious, flavourful, fresh, and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable for the QUALITY of food. If you're a fan of Caribbean and Guyanese cuisine, this place is a must-visit in Brampton. Brampton's hidden gem with only 3 dishes but they are done perfectly. Thus is Guyanese Chinese here and it's done right!everything is made to order der so expect to wait but it's worth it. Good things are worth waiting for.

I’ve been going to Island Hut for over ten years now and they never disappoint. This place has the best Guyanese-style Chinese food in Brampton. I live in Ottawa now, but whenever I’m in Brampton, I make sure to bring food back home with me. The restaurant is family-owned by a nice couple and they’re very friendly. The restaurant is clean and the food always tastes fresh and flavourful. The menu has been downsized for the time being and only a few items are available, so be sure to ask when you order, if what you want is still available. This is the new norm for a lot of restaurants that have had to downsize with the COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from the single-serve platters that they sell, they also sell catering platters that serve 6-8 people for small catering platters and 12-16 people for large catering platters. I usually get a special chicken fried rice small catering platter. It comes packed with chicken fried rice and topped off with several fried quarter chicken legs. It easily feeds 6 people and there’s a good amount of leftovers. My favourite dishes are their chicken fried rice, chicken chowmein and their fried chicken. Single-serve platters of fried rice and chowmein are topped with shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, a slice of cucumber and a slice of tomato. I hope that they bring back the “pepper shrimp”. It was always one of my favourite dishes to pair with their fried rice. Their servings are very generous and I know that some people might find them a bit pricier than other Guyanese-style Chinese restaurants in the GTA, but the fact that everything is 100% halal and the food tastes fresh and flavourful gives justification for that. I’ll be back for more!

I’ve got to say this is the best Guyanese style Chinese i’ve had in Brampton. The menu is currently very simple with just a few items. The owner said she focused on making these dishes perfect as they are her best sellers. Food tastes fresh, is flavourful and served traditionally with shredded carrots & cabbage with a slice of tomato and cucumber. Sometimes the shrimp in the special fried rice can be overcooked and the serving portions are small compared to other places but in COVID times small businesses need to survive too.

The food is ridiculously delish and it's busy with people coming and going with takeout orders. Even though they have tables and chairs, this establishment is TAKEOUT ONLY. They only have 3 food items to choose from - Special Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein and Chicken Wings (all food items are Halal). I highly recommend this place for Caribbean Cuisine. 💖
