I happened to be nearby and wanted a good meal, so I searched on Google and found this highly-rated restaurant. Here's a quick review: Restaurant Style: Mainly a mix of Trinidad style and Jollibee style. Trinidad Style: A blend of Caribbean and Indian flavors with unique spices. Jollibee Style: Filipino flavors, typically sweet and homey. Connection: Both influenced by immigrant cultures, with distinct spice blends. Environment: Average Service: Excellent Taste: Better than average, but not extraordinary. There's a unique seasoning in the food that I can't quite describe, but it sets the flavor apart. Overall: Satisfied. The meal cost $15 including tip, so the original price was likely around $12-13.

Take out counter with seating. Home cooked Caribbean food. Recommend the Oxtail and ask for lots of sauce or the rotis. Good value for money. Many doing take out so get their before lunch for quicker service.

I have been eating potato rotis from the time I could eat solid food. Gisele & Marc LLANOS are my parents who are now in Heaven. I picked up a plain & a potato roti this week after not eaten one since Summer 2021 - I moved to Owen Sound at end of 2021. Next visit, I plan to get 2 potato rotis! I miss our Dufferin & King location also in the '80s when I worked at Dufferin Mall, they were in the food court.

First of all they are wearing their jewllery while touching the food and the money person touches your napkins after handling the money. I ordered four patties that were soft and wilty. I also ordered two jerk chicken dinners not being told chicken breast is not jerk. After spending $45.00 got home their white meat dinner is watery curry not jerk. Worst curry ever! It's not authentic the chicken is dry and the sauce is yellow water. The rice over cooked swollen and very wet. Through it out. Disappointed with the response to correct the miscommunication by their server. They offered me two more wilty patties, pass. Save your money better place around. L.

This place has some of the best Caribbean food I have ever had. Great Trini and Jamaican dishes. Best Jamaican patty and double I have ever gotten that wasn’t homemade. The chicken roti was also very good. Highly recommend. The staff was extremely friendly as well and new a lot of the customers. I will definitely be going back.

Most arrogant worst service. Only 3 people working there. Young lady in the front is very polite and friendly. However, the female "Chef" also stands in the front and didn't even Crack a smile or say hello. Appeared extremely arrogant and was watching the young girl like a hawk. I seriously had second thoughts about making a u turn out of there after seeing the chef's demeanor and expression. I didn't feel that they valued or respected my business. I thought the food would be worth it, however as you can tell by the photos, the curry was a watery soup with no thick gravey at all The taste is exactly how it looks, bland and watery. The doubles as you notice has barely if any masala and is also bland. The thin fluffy roti as Trini's are known for, this is a big disappointment and is nothing like it. These ones are thick and RAW, take a look at the edges! People that claim this is the best west indian restaurant in the city, obviously don't know what authentic Caribbean food tastes like. Based on the responses from the owner from other reviews, I know they will be defensive when reading this. Perhaps this is part of the poor customer service, the defensive attitude and not being able to take constructive criticism. Everyone knows the customer is always right, and they say that for a reason. Perhaps it would be helpful to be open to customer's feedback. After all, they are the ones that make or break a business.

Literally the best roti hands down! I used to work down the street from the location on King Street which closed down. This was a family staple for me from going to the CNE and Caribana. Then when I started working in the area at least twice a month I would get roti for lunch. We had the pleasure of getting a roti recently and was not disappointed. My roti was a boneless curry chicken roti with slight pepper. I get this in a container with gravy on top and pepper on top as well. When I tell you this roti was full of flavor! It had the juiciest chicken and the right amount of aloo (potato) inside. I have tried several roti shops in Peel region and none of them come close to Island Foods. It's the most authentic West Indian roti shop in my opinion. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a good quality roti. Side note, their patties are amazing as well! The pictures I took do not do it justice. My roti is in the container which I eat with knife and fork as it's covered in gravy. The roti that was cut is one that comes wrapped. You could just open the paper and bite into it however it was for a child so I cut it in 4 so it's easier to hold and eat.

Tried out island food for launch. Jerk chicken was seasoned well. but for both roti and jerk chicken there were way TOO many potatoes. Also rice had little of an after taste. For the price the portion of jerk chicken was not worth it. Roti was pretty stuffed. They also offer in house sauce which is popular… staff is friendly !
