We had our daughter’s Holy Communion reception at the restaurant on Sunday April 28th 2024. I love that we had the entire restaurant to ourselves as they only open for private functions on the weekends. The owners (Kim and her Husband whose name I neglected to get) were so accommodating. They were kind and courteous from the start. Our servers were friendly and very attentive. Our water glasses and wine glasses were filled continuously. We also had access to a full bar. The food was spot on. I have zero complaints and our guests were just a thrilled. I won’t lie, the bill was about $500 higher than we anticipated. It’s an expensive place however we had a wonderful function and we’re happy all around.

As an individual (Black Woman) deeply rooted in the diverse cultural Greater Toronto Area, my recent visit to Il Tartufo on December 5, 2023, left me disheartened for several reasons that highlight the imperative for inclusivity and respect within the hospitality industry. Upon my arrival, I was ushered to my table by the mature (Caucasian with long white beard) male owner, whose interaction with me lacked the expected warmth and hospitality. Despite being the first to arrive, my presence seemed to warrant only minimal acknowledgment. This initial impression was reinforced when, moments later, my male colleague (Caucasian) was warmly greeted, offered assistance with his coat, while I was left to manage my own without the courtesy extended to others. Following arrival of my female colleague (Caucasian) further highlighted this disparity in treatment, as she, too, received the gracious reception that had been noticeably absent in my experience. An unfortunate continuation of this trend was evident during our meal service. The owner selective engagement solely with my colleagues regarding their preferences for additional condiments without extending the same courtesy to me was particularly disappointing. Ironically, as a professional immersed in the realm of Human Resources, specializing in fostering inclusive environments, it was evident that the owner lacked an understanding of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) principles. This oversight in acknowledging and embracing diversity within the establishment clientele is not only off-putting but also reflects a critical need for cultural sensitivity and training. Regrettably, based on this encounter, I find it challenging to commend Il Tartufo to others. My rating of 0.5 out of 5 reflects the significant shortfall in providing a welcoming and equitable dining experience. I sincerely hope that this feedback prompts the necessary introspection and proactive measures toward cultivating an inclusive atmosphere that celebrates diversity, so ensuring a more welcoming environment for all customers.

Me and a coworker went out to eat here as we were thinking of getting italian food and it was near my hotel. It was a little off putting that we were the only ones sitting in the restaurant but maybe it was just a fluke. The food was very good! Had the Fusilli di Pollo and really enjoyed it. Also had the bruschietta with cheese which was okay but not amazing. The wait staff was very attentive and came to our table often refilling our glasses and checking on how we liked the food. What we weren't aware of is that they charge you for water and presumably they charge by the bottle. Both me and my coworker paid 7.50$ each on both our bills when we had no clue it was being charged for. Next time it should at least be mentioned before dining that water isn't complementary. Plus the service staff kept filling our cups often because they made us use two bottles instead of one. Probably not going back only so I don't have to pay for water.

We were visiting from Atlanta and were pleasantly surprised by the food quality, ambiance and esp it was such an amazing experience for the kids, they were treated like royalty! The pizza and mozarella cheese sticks had the fussiest eaters satisfied! Can’t wait to visit again!

I recently visited an Italian restaurant with high hopes of enjoying a delightful dining experience. Unfortunately, my visit turned into a frustrating and disappointing ordeal that left a bitter taste in my mouth. I feel compelled to share my negative experience with others, as it was truly unacceptable. To begin with, the wait time at this restaurant was utterly absurd. My companions and I were forced to wait an excruciating two hours before our food finally arrived. This was an appalling display of inefficiency and disregard for their customers' time. We had made reservations in advance, expecting a smooth dining experience, but it turned out to be anything but. As if the wait wasn't bad enough, the main course, particularly the veal dish, was shockingly appalling. The meat was unbelievably tough and had an unpleasant odor reminiscent of strange cooking oil. It was evident that the veal had been mishandled and cooked with utter negligence. This level of culinary incompetence is unacceptable for any restaurant, let alone one claiming to offer authentic Italian cuisine. To add insult to injury, the salad starter, which should have been served at the beginning of the meal, was carelessly brought to our table right before we were leaving. It felt like an afterthought, an insignificant gesture to compensate for the terrible experience we had endured. By that point, our appetites were completely ruined by the long wait and the repulsive main course, rendering the late arrival of the starter utterly pointless. In conclusion, my visit to this Italian restaurant was an absolute disaster. The interminable wait, the repugnant veal cooked in questionable oil, and the neglectful serving of the starter all contributed to a truly unpleasant dining experience. I strongly advise against patronizing this establishment unless you have a masochistic inclination towards wasting time and subjecting yourself to poorly executed dishes. Spare yourself the disappointment and seek out one of the many other reputable Italian restaurants in the area that actually care about their customers' satisfaction.

While the servers were amazing, overall service for the large party that I went with was not good. For one of the tables, all of their food came out long after it had been cooked, and supposedly the kitchen was struggling because they only had one person working in the kitchen. I really enjoyed my meal, but others in my party were not impressed with their food.

One of worse places I have ever eaten, the price is high and the portions are extremely small, I cannot talk to much of the other products but the chicken soup was tasteless, the service from the hostess was really bad with a rude behaviour. They have a small restaurant at the back, not that fancy and when we got inside the lady did not want to sell us anything because of the commenters we provided previously. Really bad experience.
