Il Buco

Il Bucco is a personal favourite! This is a go to for our anniversary or special date night. The food presentation is beautiful and the quality has never disappointed. Always a positive experience with amazing and friendly staff. Would highly recommend the Enricos famous garlic appetizer.

The atmosphere is very old school style (dark reds, dark wood) and it was loud. The meals are good portions, flavourful, and quickly served. We had the lamb, garlic app, tiramisu, and seafood a la mer. Everything tasted great except the tiramisu which wafers were too dry (not soaked enough) Perfect cook on the lamb and the garlic app is worth it! Very rich. Overall we'd definitely go back for the food and service, but maybe not for the formal evening we were expecting due to how loud it was.

I have been here a few times all for special occasions and I ve never been disappointed. The portions are large and the food is tasty and flavoursome. Absolutely love the Roasted Garlic bread which is just chefs kiss!!! I could survive on just that if I had to. (I dont recommend sharing this as your friendship might end. However you can just order more too) The seafood risotto was great with a good portion of seafood. I ve also had the manicotti which was really good too!

I recently dined (visiting second time) at Il Buco in Barrie, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. I tried the chicken parmigiana, and it was absolutely perfect—tender and cooked just right, with a deliciously cheesy layer on top and spaghetti in a rich, flavorful sauce. The service was impressively quick. I also had the tomato goat cheese salad, and it might just be my new favorite. The whipped goat cheese was a revelation; it brought a subtle, creamy hint of goat cheese without the typical strong flavor—just perfect for anyone who appreciates the taste but prefers a milder profile. Overall, Il Buco combines excellent food, attentive service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Italian! “And don’t miss dessert! I’d highly recommend trying the tartufo and tiramisu—both are outstanding and won’t disappoint. The tartufo is rich and indulgent, while the tiramisu is perfectly balanced and airy. The street parking is free after 5:00 PM

Il Buco is our “go to place” for a great meal. We are here probably twice a month unless we’re traveling. Il Buco’ s penne a la vodka is our benchmark for this dish. Its hard to find better anywhere else. We usually precede this with Shrimp and calamari Putanesca as an appetizer, and again, we’ve yet to find one better. All the staff (and the owners) are always welcoming and always provide great service. We are generally there during the week, as the weekends are usually fully booked….and now you know why!

Always outstanding from the service to the food! I have never been here and had a single item I didn’t like. This past Wednesday we took my father in law out for an early Father’s Day lunch. The soups are always a must try and my favourite is the mushroom soup! I’ve been lucky enough to catch it a few times over the years. I love their affordable $25 menu for lunch and they always have a special of the day that is sure to make your mouth water. My husband had the chicken parmigiana which I had to have a bite of, as it’s one of my go-to favourites. The sauce on the penne funghi is so smooth and packed with flavour. Portions are very generous too, so you won’t be leaving hungry. I also ordered take-out back in January for my birthday. If you are someone who doesn’t like to eat out, but wants to experience the great food I’ve mentioned, you can’t go wrong with a pick up order, it’s packaged well, was still pipping hot travelling back to the south end from Dunlop and the perfect at home date night for me and my husband. Lastly, on Wednesday our waitress Sophie was an absolute sweetheart, so attentive and ensured we had a lovely time. But you’ll find all of the staff is wonderful!

Fabulous restaurant. The food was inviting, fresh and deliciously flavourful. Alot of details, like lemon infused goat cheese and plentiful fresh side veggies really put our meals over the top. Our server was delightful. Friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. She recommended a wine based on our preferences that was perfect. We will definitely be back.
