My favorite Chinese restaurant in Downtown Toronto. Close to University of Toronto.

The quality of their braised beef varies from time to time, this time it wasn't very tender but the soup is ok and noodles were chewy. There was only one wait staff and she was busy pick up and delivery orders, so aside from the brief moments of taking my order, delivering the food, and taking payment, there want much service to speak of.

This place is amazing for some spicy Hunan style Chinese food. I’ve come here a few times and the food never disappoints. The dishes are spicy but the spice does not overpower the other flavours of the dish. The restaurant is also friendly for individual diners as each time I see single patrons eating bowls of noodle or have one dish with a big bowl of rice. You know it’s good when even Caucasian individual diners show up to eat here, which is an authentic Chinese restaurant.

Good tasting Chinese food with good portions. I’m glad to see it opens early! It’s in combination with a noodle shop and they share a menu.

We came on a weekday afternoon and it wasn’t busy. We were seated right on the spot. We order mostly the Hunan dishes. There was very little service, nobody checked up on us for a solid ten minutes and we ended up ordering on the phone ourselves. There was also no water service except for the initial bottle of water served, despite how heavy the food is. However, the food was pretty decent. The flavors were intense and quite spicy and salt, I’m assuming that’s the authentic experience. It didn’t feel like the food was heavily MSG’d which was nice. Most of the dishes felt pretty authentic to Hunan taste and it’s better than other Hunan places you can find downtown. The portion of the dishes matches the price and you can share a few plates without getting overly full. Although, the fried rice felt quite small for the price, and there wasn’t much content other than the rice.

Been here twice now. Very spicy, which we appreciate. The first time they asked if we wanted it Chinese spicy, the second time they just went with it. We had the Xiangxi beef, spicy clams, noodles with tomato (our least favourite dish), and we've tried two different chicken gizzard dishes. Service is fast, food is tasty, and portion sizes match the pricing. Staff struggle a bit with English, which makes questions about some dishes challenging. But I also don't speak any Chinese beyond hello and thank you.
