Hub Sushi Fusion Restaurant

Just passed by and have a quick lunch on Saturday here with my minor.I didn’t expect many fruit flies once our food were placed on the table. After the air con was on, the flies were gone. While ordering, I was recommended by a waitress all the cooked meat items were found under BBQ in the menu for my minor. In fact, the meat was not fully cooked, just torched. One of our item is Rainbow Dragon. I think the waitress was not knowledgeable of their food items or not able to understand why I specifically want cooked meat, but at least reconfirming this while ordering will be much appreciated. I hope this restaurant can be improved.

***New Management Alert!*** Hub Sushi has always been one of my fav sushi restaurant for my family and I in North York. We’re there at least 4 times a year. We have a party 12, it’s hard to get reservations for that large of a party on such short notice especially for a small restaurant like Hub Sushi. However every time we call they were able to set a table aside for us no issues. This time around was no exception. We do eat a bit earlier at 5 pm so there was plenty of seating. We arrived early and received our table. I check in on Yelp and was pleasantly surprised to get a 20% coupon discount on a special roll. I proceeded with to ask the server what rolls the discount applies to in the menu. The server said they have a new owner and not able to honour the discount. That’s how I found out it was under new management. They do have a VIP service where you register online and they give you a free order of fried gyoza or edamame for each visit which they did honour. Thank goodness! However they no longer serve with ponzu sauce. The gyoza was served with the his sweet and sour sauce. Service was terrible. Maybe it was under new management and they were still getting use to the kitchen but our food came very staggered and took a while considering we were not the only ones in the whole restaurant. They mixed up my sister’s order of a teriyaki chicken sushi roll, they gave her the teriyaki dinner. But when they corrected the order, her teriyaki chicken rolls came with a piece of hair on the roll. She lost her appetite after seeing the hair and tried to cancel the order. But the server said they can’t cancel it and will remake the rolls with no hair. They did end up charging for her order.she didn’t end up eating it when the order came and was worried they just picked off the hair. My daughters waited for over an hour for their spicy seafood udon noodle soup. To have the server come to us an hour later to tell us they can’t make the spicy udon seafood noodle soup. I asked why she said they don’t have seafood and I said how about chicken? They proceed to tell me they don’t have the spicy broth either! So we switched to a stir fry chicken teriyaki udon. It came over cooked and the noodles and veggies were mushy and soggy. I gave them 3 stars since the steak teriyaki, ebi sushi and Sashimi was still good. It’s too bad that we didn’t have a good experience here and will probably not come back

Hub Sushi offers a diverse menu with a variety of unique rolls featuring unexpected sauces and toppings, making it an intriguing option for those looking for a different sushi experience. While the fish quality was not up to the highest standards typically expected for sushi, the creative combinations might appeal to some diners. The service was commendable, with our server being attentive and efficient. However, the restaurant's interior could use some improvement, as many chairs had visible wear and tear, patched up with tape. Overall, Hub Sushi provides a decent dining experience with room for improvement in both quality and ambiance. I did enjoy their sashimi salad.

Nice rolls. But the fish they use are low quality fish, sometimes a little stinky. Lots of attempts to make cool dishes. Wish they would use higher quality fish.

Great food, quick service, cozy cool ambiance. They have many options for vegetarians, which is really good. We tried some of them, delicious! We had some friends who were trying sushi for the first time, they really enjoyed it so we actually ended up ordering more. Definitely recommended.

Lots of vegetarian, veggie, vegan, plant-based options! (hitting all the keywords for people searching online). Tasty, fresh, well proportioned and arranged. The service was friendly and attentive. This place was pretty busy in the evening and I can see why. I'm providing some photos of the menu during our visit in April of 2023, which shows many of the veg items.
