As a self-proclaimed sushi snob, I was pretty disappointed by my experience here. I got the sashimi lunch combo and while it was good value, I cannot say that this is the freshest nor best sashimi you will have. However, what really killed it for me was the spicy sauce on the futomaki rolls. It completely ruined the sushi and I couldn't taste anything else because of how overpowering the sauce was, even after trying to scrape it off. We got the karaage for an apetitizer and the meat was very dry. Karaage is supposed to be juicy and crispy but it was pretty average. Overall a meh experience. Good service and nice place, though.

Our experience was made complete by the fantastic service we received—our server was amazing and very welcoming! The sushi was delicious, with exceptionally fresh ingredients. As someone who eats sushi frequently, I can say this was some of the best quality I've had at a great price. Although we don’t live in Toronto, this place is now a must-visit whenever we’re back in the city.

I love Hay Sushi! Definitely my favourite sushi spot in the neighbourhood. The new location (just steps away from the old one on Spring Garden) is very nice. Lots more space which is great. And service was amazing! Our server Narae was so sweet and attentive. I highly recommend any of the assorted sushi platters - they're always beautiful and delicious. Also the yuzu salmon and double shrimp oshi sushi hits every time. The new drinks like the sparkling yuzu juice are very tasty as well! Can't wait to come back :)

We checked out Hay Sushi after their move and renovation. The food was good but had a lot of misses :( Tempura appetizer (black tiger shrimp and assorted veggies) was awesome. Perfectly made both in crispness, texture, and the tempura sauce. Chicken Karaage was a miss. The good was that the chicken portion was generous and the garlic mayo sauce was good. The miss came from the chicken being over-fried making it more on the rubbery / tough side. As well, the batter on the chicken was on the heavy side that left a greasy texture in your mouth. Sukiyaki Pasta was a miss. The good part was the sukiyaki sauce and cooked veggies. The miss was the pasta which was undercooked (i.e. more than al dente) and the beef brisket slices which had very large fat trimmings. Each beef brisket piece was loaded with heavy fat trimmings where we literally built a good size fat trimmings mountain (see picture). Don’t get me wrong, a bit of fat is necessary for flavour…but man this was way too much fat that ruined the dish. Double Shrimp Oshi and Yuzu Salmon Oshi Sushi were awesome and delicious. It also came with miso soup which was good.

I recently visited Hay Sushi, a delightful sushi restaurant run by a friendly Korean team. The atmosphere was inviting, and I was charmed by their adorable cat logo. The food was absolutely delicious, and I was particularly impressed with the cream miso pasta—its rich flavor was simply outstanding! The staff was attentive and provided excellent service throughout my meal. I highly recommend Hay Sushi to anyone looking for a great dining experience!

Went for Hay Sushi’s grand opening at their new location and came again a week later. A huge fan of their previous location, like many other regulars. The new space is open and modern. Every detail has been well thought out. The washrooms are also clean and modern. Their food is like nothing you will experience elsewhere. A true gem of a spot. They go above and beyond to ensure you are well taken care of - from the immediate water pour to the soya sauce pour. The menu is superb and serves as a reminder of how thoughtful the creators of this space are. You can never go wrong with the tacos. No matter which one you choose, you won’t be disappointed. The steak tacos are well marinated and you’ll never get a bad piece. All fish tacos have large pieces. The sushi rice is what makes or breaks any sushi and they have it down to an art. You cannot go wrong with any roll, but to get a good mix be sure to try one of their party trays which is accompanied by a miso soup. There other dishes, such as the wayfu pasta, are also divine. There are options for all sushi lovers and those who like Asian fusion dishes. All-in-all a 10/10 sushi experience.

A good sushi place if you’re going to North York to eat. The interior is modern and very aesthetically pleasing. The food matched just that , the tempura was great and so were the rolls. We were hesitant about the tacos , but they were actually so delicious ( especially w the deep fried nori )

Lovely place with kind staff, food is excellent especially the torched sushi, what's not to like? 👍🏼 I will say when we ordered the blueberry cheesecake, they drizzled it with chocolate sauce as a special extra for eating it dining in, which is a lovely thought but I would have preferred a blueberry drizzle instead of chocolate if I had been asked. Still tasted great though, and a generous portion size! 🙏🏼 Just maybe ask the customer first if it's ok or mention the chocolate drizzle on the menu 🙂
