⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I ordered takeout from here recently and got the tempura, steak tacos, oshi sushi (pressed and torched sushi), and chicken karaage. Everything was packed super neatly and tasted so fresh, even after I brought it home. The steak tacos were insanely tender and flavorful, and the oshi sushi had this perfect smoky taste that made it stand out. The tempura was still crispy, which I didn’t expect, and the chicken karaage? So juicy on the inside with the perfect crunch on the outside. Honestly, it’s rare to find takeout this good. Can’t wait to go back and try dining in next time!

This sushi restaurant, conveniently located near my home, has recently returned to regular hours after being open only two days a week for the past few years, and I couldn't be more excited. On our first visit, I ordered the Chirashi Donburi, while my partner opted for the Sushi Dinner B. Both dishes were presented beautifully, with vibrant colors that made them as visually appealing as they were appetizing. The Chirashi Donburi was generous in portion and full of fresh, delicious flavors. The added seaweed was a pleasant bonus. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his Sushi Dinner B as well. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the cozy interior added to the overall charm of the dining experience. We will definitely be returning regularly!

We usually go to Hay and dine in and the food is amazing. The service is always a bit slow/average but we go for the food. Tonight we ordered in, the same food we usually order, and it was not good. The tuna was grey tone and had tons of sinew and the tomato of the tomato salad was not ripe yet. We were shocked to see that the portions are half the size when you take out for the same price as dine in. Disappointing.

I love sushi. There is a lot of sushi in Toronto. Most of it is expensive and unremarkable. Hay Sushi is really great sushi. My attitude about Toronto sushi is changed forever.

My forever favourite sushi place. The food’s mouth watering. The ambience is always so good too. The servers are friendly, polite and professionals. Love going there. I didn’t have to wait at this location so I am glad. You can find street parking nearby. They have vegetarian options too such as tofu. Shrimp and vegetarian Tacos are also worth trying apart from their signature rolls.

We recently placed a $270 takeout order and unfortunately, found it quite lacklustre. The portions were notably small, particularly the donburi bowls which cost $23 each but contained only 3-4 very tiny pieces of meat. The miso soups were half full, which felt insufficient for the price. Had we dined in the restaurant, I'm certain the portions would have been more generous. Additionally, our sushi order was incorrect—we received four orders of the same sushi instead of the two varieties we had requested. While the sushi itself was of good quality, as it has been during our previous visits, the issues with portion sizes and incorrect orders are making hesitant to return in the future.

Hay Sushi is my comfort spot for authentic Japanese cuisine. The atmosphere is always clean and cozy, perfect for a relaxed meal. Don't miss out on their Tendon—it's crispy perfection, with just the right amount of crunch.

The price was HIGH but so was the quality. Easily could have been one of the best sushi places I tried except the servers seemed cold and I was only taking takeout. Great presentation and amazing portion size. Love that they gave everything you need for takeout including little soy sauce dishes. They had plenty of seating area and the place seemed clean too. They could have had more “box” or “combo” options but it’s not that big of a deal. Great date place or if you want to impress your guests. Just expect the service to be a little frosty.
