Good food, a bit pricey, but always late for me Ordered through this restaurant twice Atmosphere and space is good, service is alright but they forgot one of my take out orders and didn't check it before the hand off. In both my experiences ordering out, they were always late, the second time by 30 minutes, on a Wednesday at 20% capacity

The atmosphere of this place was nice with real time DJ. It is an izakaya but they have pretty good food options. Their chicken karage with Japanese spices was classic yet delicious. I really liked the truffle mushroom rice. It was a big portion but I never got bored of finishing whole dish. The combination of crunchy taro chips, chewy mushrooms, and crisp scallions was just amazing. The server was mixing the bowl in front of me. I like that it has a little bit of entertainment at the table.

Food took at least 45-60mins to arrive, and it tastes SO BAD!! We ordered the Aburi Tuna Oshi Sushi and the rice tasted like it was soaked in vinegar and it was soooo sour that we couldn’t eat it. Actually shocked they could give us such inedible food (even though the photo looks good). The shots/drinks tasted like cough syrup. We didn’t even bother complaining cos we wanted to leave ages ago but couldn’t cos everything took so long. Not our first time here but were disgusted and will never come again. Edit (as I got a response from the owner and want to reply): FYI we did NOT finish the food and we didn’t bother to complain cos 1. the staff knew the food took so long since she gave us complimentary shots as a sorry (and she was very nice and the only think we liked about the place, she can verify this). 2. we were waiting so long that we were wanting to leave ASAP and didn’t want to have an entire conversation (we also didn’t want to sit there for longer for them to remake the food as we rather leave). And another response to the owner (on their point that I only post bad reviews)- my reviews range from 1-5 stars (I have given other restaurants and bars 5 stars before, and I feel like my range is quite balanced) and I only give 1 star to restaurants and places when I feel like I have the responsibility to let others know about my personal bad experience so they can make an informed decision. I rarely write reviews because I’m not paid and I’m not doing this maliciously (as the owner of this restaurant was accusing me of doing in their initial reply to my original comment). If I really was coming from a malicious intent, I would of posted this on my social media as I am a food blogger with a large following (so I actually do know a lot about food as the owner was accusing me that I don’t in their reply). Super long edit but just wanted to reply to the owner’s original super long reply to address some points.

I recommend checking out Hapa for your next happy hour! They have the best half price east coast oysters! Plus some very affordable meals that range from sushi rolls to mac and cheese! I had the spicy salmon roll, and the Korean style wings (which would be my lunch the next day cause when they say 1lb they mean it!) Plus because we came on a Wednesday we also got a bottle or wine for half off as well! The overall atmosphere is very casual, but nice! They had some anime playing, paired with some throwback tunes. Also shout out to the bartender that gave us free shooters! I definitely will be back!

Stopped in as we were walking by. Owner greeted us and invited us in. Very great vibe for a Sunday afternoon. There was a pumpkin carving competition happening, super family friendly. We had seats at the bar and loved everything. High recommend.

I have officially found one of my second vibes on vibes homes! As someone who goes out not for just the food but for the music and atmosphere, Hapa has given me something to look forward to each week and a place to unwind. I try to find venues that also accommodate my children for when I want to go out for dinner and/or music, now I look forward to having them come to Hapa as I've heard that they treat children with such fun, respect and community. The dj nights with Kidd Sikk (@thisisKiddSikk) is everything! He does not discriminate on music genres and everyone can be taken on a musical feel good journey. The weekly Thursday karaoke nights is a blast. Karaoke is hosted by Mr Akil D (@mrakild) who is absolutely entertaining, talented and supportive. At the karaoke night you don't feel judged but feel as if you're there to have a good time surrounded by good people. The staff are very friendly and pay attention to detail and I love when I walk in they now know what I want to drink or eat. Shoutout to the GM Steve for always being on top of it, having such good customer service and being a good sport. I might not be the biggest foodie so it's great to have food on the menu that I can enjoy as well that my friends with more daring pallets can also enjoy. Anyways, there will always be a bad review and that's their prerogative, we're all different people and like different things. With that being said anyone who knows me or follows me knows I know a good time so when I say come through, come through! 👏🏾💕

Ordered the karaage, jerk chicken, lobster Mac n cheese and firework roll. Everything was good except the sushi ironically. Atmosphere was awesome, loved the DJ playing . Service was great and atmosphere was lit.

We were a great fan of Hapa Izakaya 🏮 in Vancouver and was excited to walk past this place. We had to go in. We were told the two locations were owned by different owners but we could see some similarities. First, excellent cocktails. We had a Murasaki Ultra and Tokyo Gentlemen. Second, delicious small plates. We had shishito peppers, yuzu red wine avocado salad, and truffled kinoko meshi. Shishito peppers were slightly fried and bite sizes. It increased your appetite. So did yuzu red wine avocado salad. At first, I doubted how the ingredients could fit together, but it turned out a great combinations. Truffled kinoko meshi was the champion of food tonight. It was on a sizzling hot stone bowl. The super heat on the bowl will burn the rice and gave it a crispy texture. Our server did a very good job as well. We also enjoyed seeing three televisions📺 showing three different animations at the same time.
