donburis are just automatically really good, but the sous vide beef don wasn’t life changing or anything. the first time i came i had the gyu-tan don, and that was REALLY GOOD but they don’t have it anymore?? egg is a really nice touch though!

I’ve ordered takeout here many times before but I finally went in! Twice in one month LOL When I ordered takeout I always got the salmon and avocado don. I love it because their salmon melts in your mouth, it’s fresh and high quality. Pretty rare for this price range in Toronto I think. I’ve also eaten the unagi don, a huge piece of unagi on rice, sauce isn’t overpowering or too sweet, and it comes with a tamagoyaki. I love it! I got the charsu don too. The meat is soft and melts into your mouth. It comes with an egg. The one negative thing common in all the dons is too little stuff to rice ratio. I adapt to it and finish with even amounts but there’s a lot of rice bites without fish or meat you have to eat haha. And I think the quality at this price makes it worth it anyways. It fills you up though, so I’d rather this than a smaller amount of rice with no changes to the meat portion. They have a certain time for happy hour where a bunch of appetizers are 50% off! I find that awesome and the apps tastes really good and authentic 😋 Service is efficient and the place is decorated well. Not too much seating so try to come when it’s not peak hours! I’ll definitely be back, thank you for having me! :)

Had a great dinner eating their Bara Don! I thought they were pretty generous with their fresh fish and other toppings. The plain rice allowed the fish flavour to shine through! Miso soup had enoki mushrooms. My friend thought their Japanese Sea Bream tasted fresh and buttery. It wasn't as good as the fish she had in Japan, but it was a fair substitute. It costed $18 for 3 pieces. We all thought the $26 for the don was a fair price for the portion and sashimi. No issues, and would recommend for the friendly service and food. Nice and bright interior!

Cute interior but food was just okay. It does look aesthetically pleasing but the overall experience was mediocre. The dishes lacked flavour. I had to keep adding soy sauce to my dish. The chicken karaage was not hot and not even crispy. It had a soft bite. Was a bit disappointed.

I had really high hopes for this place since my sister raved about it. I found that the hot food that we ordered (karage and takoyaki) were not as hot and fresh as I would like. The karage wasnt crunchy and the takoyaki wasnt piping hot (usually it’s burn my mouth hot 😅). The presentation of the bowls were done quite well and even though it looks small, it is really filling. Filling of rice though LOL so we had to add more and more soy sauce to make it flavoured. I thought service was okay, they are definitely busy so I can’t complain. There is a 5% discount if you pay with cash.

We tried this restaurant for the first time. And Premium fuji don and aburi don was really good and fresh! But the yakitori was bit different compared to picture on the menu but it’s ok tho. Also the waitress was really kind. Recommend this place if you are craving seafood!

I’ve visited Hana Don Japanese Cuisine & Bar three times now, and each visit has been nothing short of exceptional. The food is simply incredible, especially the Aburi Don—it’s by far the best I’ve ever had! The flavors are perfectly balanced, and the freshness of the ingredients really stands out. The service is equally impressive. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making sure you have a great dining experience. It’s clear that they take pride in what they do, and it shows in every aspect of the restaurant. I highly recommend Hana Don if you’re looking for authentic Japanese.

The place is pretty close to Dundas station, Eaton Centre, etc. and is a nice alternative to the food court at the mall if you’re in the area. There’s a good amount of seating, and you have a good view of Dundas St. while inside. I had the burger steak don. Their bowls look small but they’re actually a good amount of food and was pretty full by the end. This dish came with a garnish of a hard-boiled egg, which was cold. I thought it would’ve been better if this was more medium- or soft-boiled and warm. The burger itself was okay. I would have liked it more medium rare if they make these burgers in-house. The sauce had a nice flavour. Otherwise, it was fine and I was hungry. With the sake that I split with my friend and the burger steak, it was around $65. I’m not sure if I feel like there was a good amount of value for what I paid.
