Hamaru Sushi

Nice Korean/Japanese restaurant in North York. Good size lunch portion, licensed. Nice decor, limited parking at front.

We visited this restaurant as a group of six and were extremely disappointed with the service. Despite only two other tables being occupied, it took 40 minutes just to get waters. This delay was unacceptable. At the end of our meal, we requested to pay our bills separately, as we had specified when ordering. The waitress, unsure why this was an issue, consulted the owner, who insisted it was their policy to only allow one bill per table. I've never encountered a restaurant that enforces such a rigid rule, especially when everyone had ordered separately. The poor waitress had to individually recall and tell us what each person ordered so we could e-transfer the person who paid the bill. This made the experience even more frustrating and cumbersome. The only good thing was the quality of the sushi, but given our overall experience, it's not worth returning. I do not recommend this restaurant.

I came here for Lunch, and spent $52 for 1 person. Specifically on an 18 pc tray of Maki/Sushi/Sashimi and a Sushi Pizza. Above avg cost, for what I ordered. Food: The meal tasted average at best. Service: I had to request Ginger, which didn't come with the meal. Parking difficult to find. All in all, an average experience, costing above average rates. There are multiple good sushi establishments within 5 minutes. I will not be eating here again.

Food is great, definitely recommend. Calm and very welcoming atmosphere. Servers are very patient and kind. The food wait is a little on the longer side, but if you don’t mind the wait, the food is quite good. Overall everything is good just the wait times are a little longer (+a bit pricey).

The sushi, service, and atmosphere were average, lacking any standout qualities. The double spicy salmon dish had an unusual crunchy texture. Prices were high for the small portion sizes. I would suggest exploring other dining options if available.

Did a take out. The food was fresh, and flavors were there. Service pretty friendly, my only complain were the portion sizes, but I guess it’s the sign of times. Kimchi - wish there was a bit more for $10. Bulgogi - wish there was sauce or any side plates with it, only comes with miso soup and a scoop of rice.

My new go to sushi place! Food was amazing! Staff was helpful and polite! Love the decor! Could not ask for more! I will definitely go again! Edit: came to get takeout with my husband today (July 2023). Quality was as fresh and tasty as usual. Takeout was decorated and garnished so beautifully. The staff was so kind and even the chefs said hello and greeted us. They really take pride in their food and customer service!

Lovely little sushi spot in an unexpected location. Fresh fish with a good selection of rolls and nigiri. Perfectly cooked rice and ripe avocado. Good filling to rice ratio. Real plants in pottery centrepieces were a unique touch.
