Halibut King Fish&Chips

If I could give no stars I would. Wasted $80 lastnight, the fish (if it was even fish) wasn’t cooked, we’re all fighting for the toilet today due to the amount of grease that was bleeding through the packaging and right through my seat covers and into the seat of my car, the fries were terrible and the one burger that we ordered for my mother in law looked like it had been dropped accidentally as it was mangled and seemed to have pieces of hair mashed into it. The staff seem to be incredibly miserable and hate their lives. The only good thing going for the place is the interior is nice, clean and welcoming. Bad food and rude miserable service though isn’t worth returning. Seeing some of the rude replies to others on here shows their lack of empathy for the customer and the reason why we didn’t bother calling to discuss this matter prior to writing this review. We didn’t wish to add insult to injury after throwing close to $80 in the trash and having an extremely poor experience on top of the stomach upset were all experiencing this morning. We simply won’t be back and will continue patronizing Churchills.

What in the world happened here and went wrong??? What used to be our go-to and number 1 F n’ C restaurant has gone completely down the drain!!! Ordered on Uber (usually we pick up from here) but being a rainy Sunday, decided to use uber. For reference, ordered a western omelette breakfast (requested bacon and cheese in the omelette IF POSSIBLE) 4 pieces of halibut and small chips, large gravy, 2 x homemade tartar sauce and chocolate milk. Came to $65.00. 20 minutes after the order was placed and the driver was almost at the restaurant to pick up the order, order got cancelled. Called the restaurant to find out why the order was cancelled and was told they didn’t have bacon, cheese or ham for the omelette so UBER cancelled the order. Restaurant didn’t.. they blamed Uber. So rather than calling to discuss the matter and ask if we wanted an alternative, they canceled the whole order 20 minutes in while the driver was almost there. Told us to reorder on uber again and order the cheese omelette and just to add bacon and mushrooms. So… placed the whole order again. Five minutes later I get a notification that my price was adjusted and increased because of the bacon on the omelette. Increased by $1.00 but still. It’s the principle. Whatever. I had no say in the matter. Uber driver (same guy) picked up the order and brought it to us over an hour after the initial order was placed (because of the cancellation BS and whatever other excuse). Wasn’t his fault b Got the food and it was 4 pieces of HADDOCK. Not halibut. Barely any fish in it, it was like eating battered air pockets. The omelette and potatoes were great. The fries were frozen fries tossed into a deep fryer. Homemade tartar sauce was like no name ranch or Caesar dressing… piss thin. Opened the container and it flew everywhere due to how runny it was. Paper bag it came in had grease RUNNING on the outside of it. Don’t know what happened but this place was always my go-to and I would recommend it to everyone. This was my boyfriend’s first time trying it and it was embarrassing after hyping this place up to him. I know everyone has a bad day… restaurants included… but my son ordered lunch earlier this week and it was the same thing. We chalked that day up to being a bad day. I’ll no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone and will be searching for a new F n’ C restaurant.

We dropped $70 here and were surprised by what we got… Calamari is made out of some paste… never had that before, it tasted like chicken nuggets. Got an absolute bottom of the barrel french fries, tiny pieces, you could eat it like peanuts. Except no salt. Fish was okay… very bland, no seasoning just ehh Leaving this here so I dont accidentally come back

So I ordered just a haddock and chips and a poutine. I figured it would be the normal small piece of fish and little fries. ... nope, I was super wrong!! That fish was hanging out both sides of the box that was also filled to the brim with crispy, perfectly cooked fries. The audacity!!! 😁 I will definitely order from here again next time I'm out this way. The fish was delicious with a nice batter and flaky inside. Thanks guys!! 😊

I recently dined at Halibut Fish and Chips and was thoroughly impressed. The cozy atmosphere and exceptional service from Corrie and Mo made our visit memorable. They entertained my son with coloring books and helped us choose the best dishes, which were delicious. The fish and chips were perfectly crispy and flavorful. This restaurant has won my heart, and I look forward to returning often. I highly recommend everyone visit at least once to experience the difference.

Won't be going back! Stopped here after being told it's the best fish and chips around! Walked in, there was a very sour fish smell in the air. (I know fish shops smell like fish) This one smelled like a stagnant pond. Order Haddock and fries. There was a tiny piece of fish in the center of the gigantic blob of batter. Was going to stay and eat but roughly 10 students came in. Very loud. Sat beside us and ate thier homemade food they brought in with them. Only 3 of them ordered. The only things on the table were salt, pepper, and 2 kinds of vinegar. Where's the ketchup? (There was ketchup all up the wall behind my mother) The fries were crunchy, and my senior mother could not eat hers due to the hardness. Waiter never came to see if we needed anything, more drinks, etc. First time going there and definitely the last.

We ordered via Uber eats. My halibut dinner did not come with tartar sauce, the fish was double breaded, and the actual fish meat was dry like jerky and very salty. Definitely avoid

We ordered Halibut King Fish & Chips this evening for dinner, and we weren’t disappointed. I had the double halibut fish and chips, and my wife had the chicken fingers and chips. Food was tasty and plentiful. Nice light and crisp batter on generous filets of halibut. Prices were fair, and service was quick and courteous. We will definitely be back!
