Halibut House Fish & Chips

It's a very nice clean place, I bring my uncle here for dinner or sometimes he takes me out. Staff are friendly, but sometimes the portions are big and sometimes they're small. Depends who's cooking.

Food is Great. Fresh Fish. Batter is Crispy, Light and Golden Brown. Fries golden brown. Good Portion. Simple Coleslaw. Second time eating in here. Twice before was delivery. Had no idea it was a Chain. The Service is speedy. They acknowledge you as soon as you get in. The Staff always kind. The Ambiance is the only thing for me that lowers the score. It often has ‘marginalized’ Folks here. They can get a little loud or repetitive. But again, the Staff deserves all the credit for being kind and patient with Everyone. #Recommend!

This is my second time here and the fish and chips are out of this world! Buttery and not too greasy, light yet crispy crust … this is the best fish and chips around! I had king cod the first time - amazing - and now the halibut!

We went there to get our lunch, but the lady taking our order was extremely rude. She tried to make us order differently and misled us about our choices. The customer service was unprofessional and unfriendly.

We loved the food and the service! Both the Haddock and the Halibut was excellent. The dining room and bathrooms were spotless and we would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Ordered the halibut with a Greek salad with fries and really loved the light batter used on the fish. Clean place and really appreciated the ketchup and tarter squeeze bottles they give each table. Thank you and will be back!

I am not much of a fish&chips kinda person but our 2 experiences there were consistently impressive. You kind of know what you’re gonna get going to most fish&chip joints but this place separates itself by the way they cook their food to absolute perfection, not a spec of grease on ANY plate, the salt pepper & vinegar shakers SHINE! No dried ketchup on the tips of the bottles, the ENTIRE place is fascinatingly SPOTLESS! Which is waaaaaaaaay too overlooked these days sadly but this regular plain ol’ fish&chips joint has and maintains HIGH STANDARDS and BRAVO 👏 to them for doing so. It ALL goes hand in hand in this business. I forgot the young lady’s name to give her praise, it starts with an “M”. She is very attentive, efficient and kind. When she had the time she kindly came over to answer all our questions. We had the Shrimp&Chips (upgraded to poutine), the Haddock&Chips with a side of the really fresh coleslaw and fried clam strips. This will be our ONLY Fish&Chips joint to frequent at till we find one with equal or higher standards. No joke…

Good atmosphere, nice and clean, good looking place. Great deal for breakfast. Still some kinks to work out as our order came wrong (1 poached egg instead of 2 over medium?) but they were very fast to fix it. I would suggest writing down the order to eliminate mistakes. Coffee was decent. Was not told Rye was an extra charge when we ordered it so the bill was a bit of a surprise. Overall a decent place and you can't beat the value for the breakfast special (we added an extra egg for $1). Tip- Please don't automatically give people straws in their drinks. I would have liked a wrapped straw so I could have said no, as we don't need to use single use plastics. Save the environment. Edit: thank you for the quick response and action! Love the straw and sustainability actions, small changes can make big differences, good for you for taking that step.
