Halibut House Fish & Chips

I've been going there forever! Since I was little, I always get the halibut/haddock fish and chips with tartar sauce. It's my all-time favorite meal! 😋

Never returning to this establishment. Ordered 2 fish and chips with sweet potato fries. The person taking the order asked him to repeat it, and he did stating sweet potato fries. My husband picked up the order and when he got home, there was no tartar sauce and it had regular fries only. He drove back to fix the order where he was told he had to pay 11$ for the 2 sides of sweet potato fries that they messed up on. He paid the 11$ to not have an argument… when he got home and looked at the box of potato fries there was not even a handful of potato fries. When I called the manager the blame was put on a miscommunication originally and then we were told that they weigh the sweet potato fries and it was an appropriate amount of fries… I will add photos but there is not fricken way this was 2 servings of fries… and absolutely not worth 11$.

I’ve been here about four times in the last month, including three times this week. Not to mention some times over the last couple years. The service is generally really good, the food is above average and it’s always been hot — especially lately. Super hot. I went for breakfast yesterday and supper tonight. Both were good, and I got lots of food. I got extra chicken fingers.

Disappointing would be how I describe the food. Service was good, place was clean and quick. Sadly the fish was soggy, fries were bland and not salted? The tartar was not homemade. I ordered a Greek salad and it was very bare of ingredients. I didn’t mind the coleslaw but nothing to write home about. For the price, we will be going somewhere else.

We are big fan of Halibut Fish & Chips. We recently moved to nearby neighbourhood, so wanted to support local restaurants, and dined-in at this location last weekend. We had terrible customer service experience. Firstly, waitress didn't bother greeting us, and kept us waiting for long time before serving "almost" cold food. How come people who dined-in after us got their food served quicker? Waitress didn't even follow up once during the time we dined-in. My wife waited quite a lot to ask for a tea refill, but no one showed up until we decided to leave. At that time also, waitress collected food bill, and gone. Didn't ask how food was or anything. It's almost like she didn't want us there. Such a horrible experience. Talking about food, i don't remember getting served this tiny halibut fish before (see the attached photo, noticed how tiny my portion is next a tiny salad cup?). Did something change with portions? Guess what, they are charging more now (it could be the same case across all locations). $20 for lunch special instead of $16 we used to pay. Not satisfied with portions at all. Please serve more fish and less fries. I would go to McD if i wanna eat fries. Not gonna visit this location again ever.

Food is very nice with homemade French fries,Fish Crispy and amazing with homemade Terrace Sauce. I love it 🥰
