This Fish & Chips store has been around, in Aurora for a while now. Seems to have seen better days. The ambience is dated and time seems to have stood still. From the lunch menu, I ordered a Halibut fish and chips, their most popular item. The fish was overcooked and the chips were hard on the outside and not crisp. The server was friendly and courteous.

I remember when the fries here were always fresh, never cooked in old oil, but here we are with another post-covid quality drop. Fries in my meal (and other's) were literally a mix of half an old over cooked batch of fries and the other half were undercooked fries, the fish pieces were dark brown (old oil) and the pieces of fish are super thin compared to before.

Have been going to this location for more than 10 years. The ownership has changed a number of times but the food portion and quality has always been the same. Looks like some new owners but not 100% sure maybe it's the corporate company now dictating more how things are being run. We ordered from them a few months ago and when I go home and opened the bag the box was only half filled where it used to be overflowing. Decided to order again today they asked if I wanted a full order and I said yes. I ordered a halibut and chips and a haddock and chips for a total just over $41. I got the bag to the car decided to look and again a half filled box. I went back in and questioned why the portion was so much smaller and was told it's the same they just now use a bigger box. I said I ordered prior to the new box and said it was half filled. I was told they can't control the kitchen and if I had an issue I should call corporate. Although I'll be sending an email to corporate in addition to this review I want everyone to know I'll never go back. There are other places to get fish and chips and offer better value. I have attached pictures showing what is now concerned a full dinner portion. I'm sure there are others that feel the same way. I know things have gotten more expensive but increasing prices and offering less that what I got before is not acceptable especially when what they are skimping on are the chips. At this point I would have to say you no longer get what you pay for and the local staff don't seem to care as they just refer you to the corporate office. Update: Email was sent to corporate using feedback@halibuthouse.ca and the email was returned as undeliverable. I guess the stores don't want to deal with customers and even corporate has decided it's not worth dealing with customers.

The Halibut tasted great. The problem was that each portion was so small. Chips were also ordered for 3. The gravey tasted great. So, great flavor, but when ordering for three..drive and pick up....at$47, I'm sorry but I am, along with people I recommend Halibut house to seems a rip off. Upon calling, they seem to not be worried. Great food just WAY over priced. .ripoff!

Had the haddock fish and chips. The fries were meh. I should l've asked for more coleslaw. The coleslaw was great. The fish was fried well. Good portion size and crispy. Their tar tar sauce was great as well. Would come back.

The haddock with fries (and halibut as shown in the photos) worth a try. Not too oily. The corn starch over the haddock is not too thick. However, the haddock meat is loose in texture. The coffee may have been brewed a bit long and become a bit bitter. That said, the attendant is super attentive, friendly and diligent. I was offered a refill (free) thrice! Appreciate very much! This is also a true colour of local business. The sunroom of the restaurant is sufficient. That offers a delightful experience in breakfast and lunch. A lovely local business in Aurora.

Really big portions (2 fish + chips is more than enough for 3 people). Pretty good, but tasted like the fish was frozen before which is a real shame. They forgot our coleslaw in the order and the Cesar had too much dressing. Might come again, but wasn’t blown away.

Food was GREAT!! Good value and good taste. Only $16 for ALL this. Portions are generous. AMAZING that there isn’t oil waiting at the bottom of the plate even at the end of the meal. Witness staff super friendly and helpful for an elder not as mobile friendly. Thoughtful and a nice smile. Will come back again.
