Yummy new Hakka Chinese place. The hot and sour soup is beautifully deep in flavor. The Kung pai chicken was great. I can't wait to try chili chicken next time. They seem a little quiet so give them some love, people of Roncy!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and finally grabbed some takeout this evening. I ordered my go-to trio for any Hakka spot: Chili Chicken (dry, sauce on the side), Manchurian Chicken Fried Rice, and Spicy Green Beans. For me, these dishes are the ultimate test—if they’re not done well, it’s a dealbreaker. Although there was a 45-minute wait for my order, the food exceeded my expectations. The Manchurian Chicken Fried Rice was perfectly spiced, packed with chicken, and had a wonderful wok hei aroma that made it incredibly appetizing. The Chili Chicken was lightly crispy, fried just right, with a nice glaze of sauce that enhanced its flavor. The Spicy Green Beans were cooked al dente and had a medium heat that hit the spot. Despite the slow start, the delicious food turned things around. I’ll definitely return—though next time, I’ll call ahead to avoid the wait!

Came here with a few friends to grab an early dinner before catching a film at the Revue. When we first entered there was no one around and honestly thought the place wasn't open yet. One of my friends rang a bell after 30 seconds of waiting, then after the server finally came out to greet and serve us, and everything went smoothly from there. I got a Wonton Noodle Soup with Shrimp and the Thai Basil Fried Rice for myself. The wontons were good, while the type of noodle they used weren't my personal fav and the soup was too salty for my liking. On the other hand, the rice was flavourful and well-seasoned. It did say on the menu that this particular fried rice was spicy, but there was no spice at all. I honestly didn't mind though, since it was delicious. The portion sizes were also huge, I didn't expect to take leftovers home, but that was a nice surprise in today's economy.

Food was delicious, made fast and great portions (I'm not the only one saying this). It has some trouble when it first opened but it is good now. The service was good, they did their job, but the atmosphere sucked, and the seats weren't comfortable. Perfect for takeout, don't dine in.

I had a fantastic experience at the restaurant yesterday! The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portion sizes that left us more than satisfied. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, and the service was impressively quick – we didn’t have to wait long for our food at all. Sitting out on the patio added a lovely touch to the meal. The paneer dish, in particular, was my favorite and truly stood out. I’ll definitely be going back and highly recommend this spot!

First time in. Last time in. Been waiting to try this place. Unfortunately, the food is mediocre. Food quality is 5/10. Ambiance is 5/10. Service was ok. Wonderbread of Asian food in Roncesvalles.

This place is amazing! The sub-4 star rating also made me hesitate but I'm glad I went. I got the special for 1 which included chili chicken, rice (I upgraded to fried rice), spring roll and soup (not pictured here). Food came out fast and piping hot and tasted fresh. Generous portions too. Some of the best chili chicken I've had in a long time. Server was also very nice and attentive. Not sure if it counts as a hidden gem if it's on Roncy but I do think more people should be talking about it! Will definitely be back!

My partner and I were eager to have a meal at Roncesvalles neighbourhood’s new Hakka restaurant, Hakka Wok Hei. There are many good things that can be said and I’ll start with that; the food, it’s delicious. They also serve generous portions by a very kind and charming wait staff. We enjoyed their Vegetable Pakoras to start, which we followed with Hakka Fried Rice, Chilli Chicken and Spicy Green Beans. All were cooked to perfection. That location has had many restaurants. None lasted long because of the layout. The layout’s problem is magnified by the fact that they seem to depend on take out and delivery, not sit down dining. The result is that the few diners, like us, are forced to listen to a stream of delivery guys chatting and waiting for their orders. This is above the loud rock and roll coming from the kitchen. Did I mention the sterility of the place? So all in all it’s not a pleasant dining experience. Next time we plan on ordering in because we really like the food.
