Gyubee Japanese Grill (Dundas)

The complete Gyubee experience in the heart of downtown! I'd recommend making a reservation if you plan on going later in the day (past 4pm) The service is really quick! They're really amazing, especially Zend! He kept me stocked with cabbage salads and adjusted accordingly to our tables needs/wants. Went with a group of 7, it seems the largest group you can sit is 8. I could be wrong though!

The service is rushed. Due to the line up situation, it’s understandable. However, when there was still meat in my sauce plate and a bowl of noodle on my table, the server couldn’t wait to take my plates away. WITH MY FOOD STILL UNFINISHED and WE STILL HAVE HALF AN HOUR LEFT. Then she came with the bill, turned off our fire and started her cleaning routine. Me not even touched my dessert yet. My friend and I had to finish our ice cream in the cold. I get it u guys have a huge line up, but if that’s the case, maybe considering reduce the two hour limit to one and half. Or can you take our plates after we paid our bill? Don’t think you saved anytime but only let us feel we are not welcomed. Nevertheless, one of their manager apologized to us for the inconvenient and gave us back the tips as a kind gesture. Food itself was good. All other servers were also amazing, think they deserved the tip but sadly ruined by one of their colleague. Still highly recommend for the food, but arrive early or get ready for some serious line ups!

Extremely busy since there is no reservations available unless you are a large group. Came for dinner on a weekend night. We went on the waitlist and it took us 3+ hours to finally get seated so heads up to do it early if you want to be seated for dinner. On top of that, you have to check in in-person then wait another hour until you are seated. Everything we ordered was delicious and was able to order 3 rounds before the last call at 10:30pm. The marinated meat was a favourite for the group. They only take cash and debit so do keep that in mind. Highly recommend bringing cash. Will maybe come back and ensure we get on the waitlist earlier for dinner next time.

It was an unplanned late lunch on a chilly Saturday, so we hadn’t reserved a table. We joined the waitlist and waited about 50 minutes before being seated—this place is bustling! Once we sat down, the food arrived surprisingly fast, and our server, Ivy, was absolutely delightful and attentive. Despite the packed space, the overall experience was very positive. Kudos to the entire team for their hard work and dedication! They truly deserve generous tips for all they do.

Nice service and staff. Good variety of beef and marinated well. Pumpkin soup is seasonal and is really good. Seafood is not that good to be honest but you cannot expect high at such place. Overall a nice spot to hang out with friends.

Best Japanese BBQ experience so far in Toronto! The service staff was so attentive, we never had to wait long for the food to arrive. And the food was sooo good! Especially the marinated brisket beef and pork belly was so divine, we probably ordered it four or five times. Make sure to book a table well in advance / put your name on the waitlist if you're a smaller group. We went on a Tuesday and still had to wait for around 45 minutes so plan accordingly.

we had dinner yesterday around 5:30pm . it was so good experience. I forgot her name. she was very friendly and had smiles on her face always. We really enjoyed food too. beef was very fresh and sides were delicious too. thank you

This place is absolutely packed full, especially on the weekends. Be prepared to waitlist ahead of time, as wait time sky-rockets to approx. 1-1.5hrs especially past 5:30pm. Checking in is an absolute nightmare as there is not enough space on the front waiting area, so everyone is left standing packed like sardines; I wish they would consider expanding the lobby or rearranging their check in process. With that said, I always seem to come back every single time as their food and service are absolutely amazing. The servers are very courteous, friendly and do their absolute best to provide exemplary service; every time I’ve been, I was always very satisfied with the service provided. Their menu also consists of a wide range of different flavours, and a variety of protein, my favourites are the miso steak, sweet soy short rib and sausage. Overall, would highly recommend to try out! But maybe not during the dinner rush…
