Gyodong Restaurant

Since their grand opening, Gyodong has definitely cut down the ingredients of each dish. My spouse and I went the other day and their jja jang myun had 90% onion and 10% meat in that dish. The jjam ppong had 2 out of 4 mussels that didn’t open. I didn’t want to eat the unopened ones because that calls for an upset stomach. My dish was also packed with white and green onions. The waitress was nice enough to refill our radishes but the free appetizer was also a big disappointment. Why would you give raw onions as an appetizer when 90% of the ingredients in each dish is already onions? I felt like we paid $40 for a meal of onions. Will never come back again.

Welcome Gyodong finally opening Korean Chinese restaurant in DT Toronto, saving our travel time to North York. We ordered Ja jang myun, Jjamppong, and Tang su yuk. 10/10.. so authentic, resonable price, attentive service and nice decor! Amazing! Complementary hot tea, Korean Chinese style condiments such as pickled daikon & raw onion with fermented black bean dipping sauce, tablet ordering system, self serve complementary coffee & rice… was a plus! Washroom was super clean & modern, equipped with mouthwash & toothpick. Only one complaint I have is we dined during busy lunch time and there was only one server who covered the entire dining room. Not sure if someone called in sick? One server was covering the entire dining room by himself and also answering the phone seemed a little crazy too me. However our server kept smiles the whole time and still was very attentive. Will definately go back for fried rice, kkanpungki and yurinki next time.

I’ve been missing a good Korean-style Chinese restaurant in downtown, so I was excited to discover Gyodongban on Bloor Street. The food was absolutely delicious, with fresh ingredients that you could really taste. On top of that, the restaurant was impressively clean, which added to the overall great experience. I also loved that they offered free rice refills—such a nice touch! I’ll definitely be recommending this place to my friends!

The Family Jjajang was absolutely delicious. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the sauce had a rich, savory flavor that paired wonderfully with the toppings. As for the spicy seafood Jjambbong, it was packed with bold, rich flavours and just the right amount of heat, making it incredibly satisfying. Both dishes were a real treat!

this is the newest Korean Chinese restaurant in the area! I tried jjajangmyeon and yuringi and they were delicious 😋 A shrimp tempura on jjajangmyeon was a nice addition to the dish. The portion size was generous for the price as well. Overall I had a good experience here :)

Everything tasted amazing and the service was great! I especially loved their jjajangmyeon, the best one I’ve ever had. So affordable for such huge portions. Would definitely come back again!

Such a great find, it’s a hidden gem. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere in general with roomy seating areas that provide adequate privacy. The staff were fantastic! The pastas were delicious. Overall a good experience.

Walked in on a weeknight around 6pm and was able to get a table right away. There’s a lot of seating and I liked the vibe of their dining room. There’s a nature scene playing on a projector on the long wall beside the seating area which was different. The interior is like a bar and you order through a tablet. I like that you have a way of communicating with the staff at any time through your stay if you need something, even getting the bill. The crab cream pasta was nice. The crab flavour is there. It’s a pretty filling dish, so it’s good to share with other people if you want to try a few dishes instead of just getting one entree. The pork belly was a bit disappointing. I was expecting it to be more crispy, but it was like it was cooked then left to rest so it wasn’t hot when it came to our table and it was like soft cooked bacon. The pancake was nice and crispy from what I recall. I liked the flavour too. The grilled squid was probably my favourite. It had a nice texture so it was cooked well and I liked the smoky/ burnt flavour from the grill. The staff were attentive, easy to talk to, and helpful. This is a good place to hang out with friends and grab drinks at.
