the regular size is comically small so get the large. they have vegetarian options (potato croquette), and overall it was yummy and the sauces are delicious too but as u can see from the photo they didn’t affect much sauce :/

Awesome Japanese street food for a great price at this little gem in Cabbagetown! Friendly service, cute vibe but definitely minimal seating. We got the original fried chicken bento, seriously so good! Crispy outside, super juicy inside, just right amount of spicy mayo. Loved the pickled ginger and edamame, makes it feel not so heavy and greasy like most fried chicken. Price is about as good as you can get in Toronto, very reasonable! Looking forward to coming back and trying more!

The employee was very nice and friendly to my friend and I :) we got the 4pc takoyaki to share. I’m assuming it was freshly made since it took them around 5-10 mins to make and it was served hot/warm. We enjoyed it and our only regret is that we didn’t buy more haha

our favorite toronto karaage chicken. very juicy, crispy, delicious jasmine rice. took away one star, because out of 4 times when we had takeout, 1 time the chicken was at a 50% discount and it was not tasty at all, just breading in oil, almost no meat... I understood why there was a discount, but it was unexpected and sad

Just to tell you guys the truth, they are only getting 3 stars because they let me use the bathroom, it was moderately clean, but I really needed to go, so because of their kindness I decided to order something because... why the heck not... Right, I thought ok, I will have the octopus balls, and I dont care that it's 6$ and a couple of cents right??? WRONG''' it was the worst decision I have ever made, I should've just said thank you and been on my way, honestly the balls tasted like the version of a frozen beignet that was cooked in fat. Absolutely disgusting. Ah so terrible it was awful***. OMG I feel so bad for my taste buds . I definitely won't be returning to this spot, even to use the washroom.

A friend and I shared the large everything original bento and seaweed salad, which were perfect in every way. Perfectly tender deep fried chicken, takoyaki and potato croquet. Fresh and delicious! Love the cozy indoor patio vibe.

Came in and the staff just stared at us. No greetings; not even tried to do a welcome gesture. But then perhaps they are busy so that’s fine. We tried their Original chicken karaage bento and it was okay. The chicken appears to be mushy and wet. Rice is also extremely wet in texture, and they put too much spicy mayo sauce making the dish extremely in a mushy condition. Didn’t enjoy that particular dish but perhaps I’ll try their other dishes next time. Overall, just an okay experience. Nothing made me feel impressed or anything like that.

Gushi Japanese Street Food offers delicious fried chicken and good value for money. I visited with my friends to see what the hype was about. From the outside, the restaurant uses a distinct colour theme of wood and brown, with a red stamp, which continued into the interior decor as well as the food packaging. I appreciated the design continuity, which added to their branding. As soon as I entered, I was hit by a strong odour of fried oil. The deep fryer was constantly churning out fried chicken pieces, and the lack of air circulation made it difficult to breathe. I got used to it quite soon though. The restaurant had a unique system of ordering, which they tried hard to make clear. Unfortunately, multiple visuals explaining the choices made it harder to figure out the price, which was troublesome. Drinks were also presented without prices. I ordered the JG Large size Chicken Karaage Curry Rice, and it was a great choice. On a bed of purple rice, there were multiple pieces of large fried chicken with curry gravy, along with green edamame beans and red pickled radish pieces to make things interesting. The chicken pieces were big and juicy, and the curry was passable, adding an additional layer of flavour to the chicken and helping me finish the rice. The large size meal was very filling, and considering the price, I would say that it had good value. The server was bright and helpful, even though our interactions were short. The only gender-free washroom in the restaurant was well-maintained and accessible through a key next to the cashier. Overall, I had a superb meal. Despite the confusing menu and poorly ventilated interior, the restaurant aims to provide great value while also being quite tasty. Due to the limited space, I would recommend take-out. I wouldn't mind coming back to try their other menu variations if I am in the area.
