Gus Tacos

I'm originally from San Diego and I decided to take the plunge and try to see if Toronto has any good mexican food while I'm here for the Holidays. Honestly, I came out of Reddit's recommendations, and I'm glad I came here because my search quickly ended! I ordered the pollo, carnitas, asada, and birria tacos with the mild salsa. I was happy the salsa came on the side since I can control how much goes on each taco. I also like how generously sized the limes were too. I think the pollo and carnitas were just okay, but I was happy with the asada and birria tacos. I would have ordered one more of each rather than the pollo and carnitas, but I'm glad I got to try them. Overall, the tacos are good and left me satisfied. I can count on this place to satisfy my mexican cravings whenever I'm in town again

UPDATE: after a response from the “owner” in this reviews section asking me to email info@gustacos.com, I sent an email and the email was never replied to. Make no mistake that when this company responds to reviews they are only putting on an act that they care, they don’t care at all and past the public perception they will big league your emails. The Burritos are $12 plus tax and this is the tiny little Burrito I ended up with for twelve bucks. The can of pop I had with my lunch was bigger and all the extra tortilla was rolled up inside, I feel like I’ve been robbed. Don’t patronize this establishment, you can find a lot better value elsewhere.

This has to be one of the best mexican/taco shops in the city, and by extension one of the best chains. It is fantastic that we got a location out here in the east end, and they do not disappoint. The tacos are reasonable at 5$ a piece and well worth it. The Birria and Barbacoa are outstanding, as always, but the Pastor should not be slept on, especially by Hawaiian pizza lovers. The mild green hot sauce is perfect for a small amount of spice, but fair warning, the max level spicy red one might be too spicy for some. The chips and guac are both very fresh and if you eat in store you get a very generous portion with a nice presentation. (The take out portions are still generous, to be clear). I also cant leave out how good the Horchata (Cinnamon + nondairy) and Jamaica (hibiscus based) drinks are. This has got to be my favourite Mexican restaurant now, and definitely one I find myself coming back to again and again for the incredible tacos. 10/10 would eat again.

Hands down the most authentic tacos I've had in the GTA so far, coming from someone who really misses tacos in California. I really enjoyed the steak, pastor, and barbacoa tacos, and the chips and guac were also great. Spicy salsa is actually spicy. Will definitely be back!

Very simple and cheap tacos. I particularly liked the fish tacos better than the chicken ones because they were better seasoned. The service is good.

Meats didn’t really have much flavour. Was disappointed they had no sour cream for their tacos. Service was very speedy and friendly. May try their burrito next time to see if any flavouring in meats then. Mexitaco much better and right in that area.

Best authentic tacos I've ever had. Their birria tacos and homemade hot sauce is delicious. The price is fair, and food is very addicting you can't stop ordering more.

We detour from our drive since I got good reviews from some friends. Unfortunately it did not match the hype. Definitely a good spot to grab a bite if in Scarborough but not a spot to specifically come for… Tacos were ok… fish tacos were bland and with a dressing that’s closer to McDonald’s than authentic fish tacos. Salsas portions are small and not enough… Prices are ok. Service is almost non existent.
