Funghetto Trattoria

My girlfriend and I had an amazing evening at Funghetto. This was our first time here, the food was delicious, ambience and atmosphere was lovely. But more importantly, the service and staff were all so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

We visited this restaurant because we had a gift card and it did not disappoint. The food was great, and the service was excellent. The servers were very attentive, you weren’t waiting around for drinks to order or to have dishes collected. We will definitely be back.

Not an enjoyable experience. Right from the start they seemed annoyed at us for not having a reservation (the restaurant was half empty at the time). This is the type of restaurant that offers flat or sparkling water, which both have a ridiculous price. Luckily we knew to order tap water. They never checked up on us during the meal or to refill our waters. They seemed to have just ignored us because they didn't think we were worthy customers or perhaps because my friend had her child with her (he was very well behaved). We could never even get our servers attention, so we had to ask other ones around when we needed to ask for something. We noticed how much attention our server gave to the table next to us and he went through a whole list of specials of the day with them. He did not tell us anything about specials when he took our order which was very disappointing. The food was overpriced and subpar.The spinach dip was very messy to eat and did not come with much bread, the beet salad was way too acidic and made me cough a lot, made worse because my glass of water was empty. The mushroom risotto was not good, it was a bland, watery mess. I saw photos posted from other clients in reviews of their risotto and ours didn't not look like theirs. We would have told them about the food, but they never asked how we were doing, and even though we were still hungry, we didn't bother ordering another dish there. The dinnerware they served the food on made for a painful experience, imagine eating risotto with a metal fork on a matte black plate. It felt like eating off a chalkboard. Not an enjoyable meal, especially since we were celebrating a special occasion. This is not a place we would return to.

DO NOT GO!! I just went to this place with my kids to try it, we sat down and were offered water. After seeing the ridiculous prices I decided to leave. The waiter chased me to the parking lot to charge me 6 dollars for the water! I said “I am not going to pay for the water” which we didn’t even drink, and he said “I feel bad for your kids”. My kids left very stressed and I was so mad. I felt insulted in so many ways. I came back and left the 6 dollars plus change even though that guy doesn’t deserve a tip, I guess he needed it badly, otherwise you don’t do that, you don’t chase a potential customer to charge them for water you offered and not expect a bad review. Or he is a terrible waiter and person who just tells a woman that he feels sorry for her kids. But even if he weren’t there, I would never try the place. Crazy prices for a main dish when Vaughan offers a vast list of high quality and way more affordable Italian restaurants . No way. No surprise there were so many tables available on Saturday at 6pm.

Disappointed is an understatement. I came to this restaurant with 11 other guests, hoping to have an enjoyable birthday experience. Boy weren't we in for a rude awakening. Due to their "menu" change commencing on Monday, they did not have half the items any of us wanted to order, it was all down hill from here. None of this was relayed to me when booking my reservation or even three hours before my reservation when they called me to confirm the booking. We get through our meal, and all of a sudden they can't split the bill? I was approached by one of the owners Gerardo and he was so unprofessional, rude and condescending. I told him he should have told us that prior to ordering. He said that if we wanted to split bills that we needed to do it before ordering, I told him " you did not tell us that", he looked me dead in my eyes and said " why should I tell you that"? I was at a loss for words, no apology nothing, blatant disrespect for his customers. Steer clear of this place unless you want to feel belittled and have a hefty bill for mediocre italian food, honestly if you're in the area, in the same plaza you're better off going to dessert plus for better Italian food and staff that actually enjoy their job. Honestly, I've never left a 1 star for any place but the attitude was so off-putting I can't look past it. Will not be back.

Words cannot describe how incredibly happy I am that we chose Funghetto Trattoria for our wedding. Starting with the exceptional service we received in planning our special day with Gerardo and Chef Angelo. They both were very accommodating throughout our whole process. Chef Angelo and his team of chefs are truly talented! Every single dish was delicious, fresh and high quality. Chef Angelo accommodated all of our parties dietary restrictions and provided a menu to die for! The service provided by the Funghetto team for our private event was above and beyond. I want to personally thank Valentina, Sam and Francesco. They were so positive and my guests were very happy. Lastly, the restaurant is so beautiful and modern we barely needed any decor. Highly recommended for ANY event.

My husband and I enjoyed the best meal experience at Funghetto yesterday evening. Delicious appetizers, beautifully created cocktails, to mouth watering main course dishes. The ambience and service were both spectacular. There are many Italian restaurants in the Woodbridge area, but hands down this one by far is our new favourite go to and we would highly recommend.
