But disappointed with the food overall. The $160 Eel was over-cooked, and therefore wasn’t juicy and fatty. What a waste. It’s like overcooking a $160 steak :( The other dishes were ok, good enough… Probably not gona give this place a second chance with the eel..

Comforting Chinese Cuisine tucked away in a small plaza in Scarborough (IFYKYK) We booked a private room in the lower level of this restaurant, the top level is crazy busy; we ordered about 7 dishes for 7 people - this is definitely a family style restaurant. Food was great value for the price. The owner/chef has been around for a long time in this spot and they know what they are doing in terms of feeding people. Among the dishes we ordered, my favorite was the steamed eel with black bean sauce. As I mentioned, the food is good, not great, and for the price you are paying it is great value. Service was good - restaurant staff checked in many times over the course of our dining time ensuring plates were changed if we had ample bones/excess waste on our plates. It's got the homey vibe of a mom/pop shop and the service to go with it. Everyone knows everyone and they will treat you like family when you dine here.

April 2024 Excellent food again and they have private room if you have a big table. I had Talipia five times in the last two week and this one is the best executed version. They also steam on it open belly so pne side doesn't braise in the liquid. It was cooked to perfection. Others i have recently was overcooked. They also have promotional pricing for (talipia and seafood hot pot- see prior review /pictures below) on weekdays only ( written in chinese menu on walls) Talipia 5/5 soya sauce flavor was perfect. Tofu house desert 5/5 perfect balnce or ginger and not too sweet. They have it on less busy nights until they run out. Sweet and sour pork 4.5/5 crispy, crunchy (even when cooled) and not overly sweet. Beef and veggie (think it is chinese broccoli) 3.5 good but 10% of the beef was chewy. This is probably my go to restaurant now with amazing seasonal item like Stramed Vietnamese crab - expensive and somehow better than how i can make it at home. Salted Pepper Lai Liu Ha (Mantis Prawn- my friends liked it, but im not the biggest fan since they are not moving like the ones in China or Home Kong that I ate recently. It reminds me of Scampi or Crayfish- lots of shell and work to eat the very little meat. Why not just order a Hong Kong lobster or Crab on lotus leaf with rice instead. Please remember this review is based on comparable priced chinese restaurants that are Family style and not super high end expensive restaurants. ‐-------------- January 2024 Excellent value for fresh high quality seafood. We got the seafood hot pot only available weekdays and they sell out. Lots of other great seafood dishes, it is very dated interior but i dont come here for the ambience.

At the first glance, the restaurant decor is dated. Secondly, clear lack of hospitality, there were 4 tables of customers and the three waitress doesn't know the priority of servicing. We have to wait at least 15 mins to get our order throught. Talking about food, they are in good portion comparing to the price. However only the steam meat paddy was impressive.

How is the food? The food here is pretty nice, I feel like they are a nice little hidden gem in the area. I don’t have it in my pictures yet, but you should come here and at least order either the lobster or king crab, and order the type of egg pudding that they cook using the lobster sauce also salty egg fried rice Also, you should not come to this shop with too little people, it is not as enjoyable, I recommend coming here with at least 5 people so you can order more variety of dishes, it is much more enjoyable that way. How is the service? They know English, but you should not expect perfect English here, they speak Canto and okay Mandarin. Service is good though. Would I recommend? Yes
