Formerly "Big Mouth Kee" (大口記), the food remains great. This is my choice for Cantonese food whenever I'm in the area. The range of flavours and dishes are signatures of Cantonese cuisine. My personal favorite is "避風塘炒蜆" (bei fung tong chao hin). It's a wildly flavourful stir-fry clan dish with a slight kick of heat. Knowing what to order is important. Ordering the set dinner may result a more bland experience. Bring a Cantonese or local foodie or ask the waitress for recommendations. Price range will vary wildly. Standard dishes are reasonable but if you venture into the live seafood it can blow up the bill ... but it'll be worth it 👌 ( Thing Geoduck Sashimi) The smaller size of the restaurant also differentiates it from the "grander" restaurants. I find the bigger restaurants' dishes don't hit as hard. The 鍋氣 (wok hei in Cantonese, guō qì in Mandarin) is somewhat diminished in bigger restaurant. TL;DR Great place for Cantonese food 😋

The entrance of this restaurant is facing Hwy 7, behind Shinta BBQ, on the lower level. I made a reservation for an early dinner, and the staff was kind enough to give us the private room because we had a baby with us. By the time we finished, there were lines out the door, so reservation is recommended. We pre-ordered the winter melon soup and everyone loved it. Most dishes were delicious, only one or two were either too sweet or too salty. Overall, I would definitely return and recommend this restaurant for authentic Cantonese food.

Place is BUSY on a Saturday! We made reservation for 7pm but was not seated until 7:30pm. Service was nice and quick, food arrived within minutes and all tasted very good (see pictures - all recommended), with complementary soup and dessert. However this place is LOUD - so loud that the server asked us to scream when placing the order and we had to literally yell when talking to people across the table. I had a sore throat the next day from the yelling/screaming like the day after going to a concert lol. We would be regulars if they could somehow fix the noise issue but I'm not sure we'll be returning (at least not on the weekend) due to the noise. This has got to be a health hazard for the staff 😵💫 Recommend visiting during non peak time e.g. after 9:30pm on weekends.

Very popular restaurant so it's best to book and arrive early. Food was OK (forgot to take a pic of the salt &pepper fried tofu). Service was excellent. I deducted points for the atmosphere because this place is LOUD. Literally couldn't hear each other talking across a small table because every single table was so boisterous.

Good Chinese dishes cooked in traditional ways. Seafood is very fresh. A great place for large group gatherings. Service is good with friendly staff. Place is usually crowded. So come early or reserve your table.

The vibes in this resto reminded me of Top Choice Restaurant in Markham. Located where Big Mouth Kee used to be, the parking lot is usually packed. I thought this spot would be really big inside but it's actually relatively modest in size. We were sat near the seafood tanks and private room, on the right side of the resto. My family dines at Starchiva regularly, just down the road over on East Beaver Creek and that resto is the gold standard for us right now in terms of overall canto food experience. So how does this place stack up? This place put up a valiant effort. Everything was slightly on the salty side to be honest (especially the dishes containing shrimp). The salted egg yolk shrimp and pumpkin was very crispy and had great texture but the shrimps tasted like they had been brining in saltwater for awhile. Similarly, we got 2 types of their stuffed wings (stuffed wings w/ sticky rice and stuffed wings w/ shrimp). The shrimp filling in the wings were also uncharacteristically salty. The sweet n' sour pork was very crispy and fresh but the meat to fat ratio was off. There was a lil too much fat inside each piece. Beef tenderloin with garlic and mushrooms had good flavour imo but was too oily. I could see the mushrooms swimming in oil at the bottom of the plate when it arrived. Same with the eggplant and chicken stone bowl. A little bit too much oil. Lobster e-fu noodle I really enjoyed but my family didn't think it was anything special. Likewise, I enjoyed the sizzling green onion and ginger oyster pot but my family (and my bro's wife) found the oysters to be on the salty side. They also made an error with our oyster pot and cooked the wrong style but the waitress took it off our bill. Great service! For a place that prices itself like Starchiva I felt like it was much noisier/louder and also not as spacious. I just didn't get the sense of comfort while dining in this restaurant. Maybe I'd come back to try some lunch in the future but for dinner, I'm not sure I would.

I have been to this restaurant a few times. Service has always been friendly and efficient. I enjoy their food very much and I don’t think I am alone since this place does get quite busy. They offer free daily soup and dessert which is a nice touch. Great place for a family meal or come with friends and have a few drinks while enjoying their wok hay authentic Cantonese dishes!!! To avoid disappointment check their menu before going as some of their specialty dishes need to be preordered! Will recommend!
