Du Hsiao Yueh 度小月

Three of us went out for Christmas Eve dinner tonight, and it was truly marvelous. Following the recommendation of our lovely server, we chose the set menu for two ($60.99) and upgraded it (+$10) to include two additional main dishes. We also took advantage of their buy-2-get-1-free beverage deal. Altogether, the bill came to about $90 before tips. The set menu included: Taiwanese pickles (tangy and refreshing, perfect as a palate cleanser), Kabayaki eel sticky rice (beautifully presented with bold, rich flavours), Daami noodles (great texture but slightly underwhelming compared to the other dishes), tofu pudding with ginger sauce (silky and subtly flavoured, a standout dessert), three-cup chicken (sticky sweetness, arrived sizzling at our table), and Du Hsiao Yueh braised pork feet (delicious and perfectly balanced between traditional Taiwanese street food flavours and a refined restaurant style). We also ordered three bubble teas: regular milk, lychee, and lemon. While all were excellent, we’d highly recommend the lemon bubble tea because it’s a perfect way to balance the heartiness of the set menu. The staff were attentive and polite, and we appreciated that they thoughtfully served the dessert after we had finished all the mains and sides. There are so many interesting dishes on the menu, and we’re already planning our next visit to try more. Highly recommended!

The 3 cup chicken was excellent! I could return to this restaurant every week to have this dish. Everything we ordered was very good. Service was the best we’ve had in a Chinese restaurant. The interiors are also nicely done, very clean, neat and tastefully done. None of the tacky colours. Between the service and the yummy food, this is a winning restaurant in my books

Came for lunch. They updated the weekday lunch menu (price increased and less options). We ordered one lunch special and one business meal set. The pork hock has a big portion and taste ok. But too many meat for lunch set to me. I prefer the old lunch special quantity. May be they should bundle up another green salad to balance it. For business set, it has the best value if you want to try several things at once. The only cons is the temperature of the food. The soup is just warm. The black garlic chicken soup definitely taste way better if it is hot. Even the white rice is not hot enough. Not sure if I will come back to try other things.

Very disappointed right now. The restaurant has a nice interior and the food tastes good but here’s the reason for a bad review: 1. The portion sizes are way too small A 17$ sweet and sour pork looks like the same portion for the same amount of 5$ T&T dish. A 7$ Daami noodle comes in a bite sized portion. Most items are definitely not worth the price. Either give more or charge less. (Items in the photo alone costed around 30$) 2. We came in an hour before closing and we were rushed to order food because they are closing down the kitchen and are no longer making food afterwards. We ordered plain rice to pair with a dish, and they accepted the order. It wasn’t until they finished bringing everything to our table before they told us they were out of rice. The whole incident was very poorly managed by servers and it didn’t feel like they understood what we needed. Would not be coming back here.

Our servers are John, Romo (hope I remember his name correctly) and Ting. Ting is very friendly and conscientious. They all tried their best to help us to order. We are very particular about no onions and no cilantro. They kept a close eye of our dishes before our food were being brought out from the kitchen. Food is delicious and freshly made. The dishes are quite reasonable size (sorry I forgot to take some dishes before I tried it). The only minor complaint I had is hopefully the eel on the sticky rice be a bit thicker next time, but overall, the other plates are quite filling for 3 adults. We even had some to bring home. We ordered the new combo for 2 which is $60.99 + $10 extra for the Three cup chicken dish and can perfectly fit the three of us. John is very nice to let us switch from Pickles to Squash and highly recommend that squash dish. It's perfect for summer! Anyway, thank you for the amazing service and would absolutely recommend this place to friends and family

Very welcoming owner Matt serving very good authentic Taiwanese food. Lots go for the salt and pepper chicken, the crispy intestines, the eel rice, Taiwanese sausage, minced pork, and they're all good but I'd even go just for their wild mushroom short rib soup which has this deep and very complex flavour almost like an earthy preserved egg flavour but it's not, it's just that good! Modern dining space shared with Green Grotto. 10% off when paying by cash.

All the foods were so yummy! The only complaint is oyster omelette should have more oyster, and the pork feet dish has only 5 pieces. There are a lot of other dishes I would like to try next time!

First time here and being Taiwanese, and craving good taiwanese food, we ordered lots of different foods on the menu, from Apps, Mains, Salads, and Desserts. Very good overall menu. Some will minor complain the food has a bit extra pork oil. Besides this , the foods were all very delicious and will be back!
